In a bit of a state

Terrified that i have IBC. In october ( about the 20th) i noticed a painful sore area of breast that was hot and pink and nipple was ozzing a thick kaki discharge throughout the day i became very ill ( flu like symptoms). Went to out of hours clinic and was prescribed Fluoxicillian in a high dose (500mg x 4 times a day). Felt better a few days later and lump continued to get smaller, but didn’t go away completely, but heat and redness cleared up.The lump felt more tublar under the areola area. Two weeks ago lump got bigger, but over that week went back down and up again. No repeat of redness or hotness though. Went to doctors and was referred to breast clinic.
Went to clinic on Tuesday and had mammogram, ultrasound and core biopsy( the gun one). Doctor said one node had a thickening but said she would not biopsy at that moment.
Discussion was very rushed after scan and i was given a high dose of Augmentin ( 625mg) to take for 7 days as the think it may still be infection.
Wish i had time to ask questions as i am now in a very anxious state. My breast know feels a bit itchy, but thinking it might have been caused by the adhesive dressing ( have now removed it).

Hoping that all makes sense.

Hi Montykat

I was diagnosed with IBC in October and I am currently undergoing chemotherapy, you are in the worse place at the moment being in the waiting room, waiting to find out the results, that was the worse time for me not really knowing and it all goes round in your mind. I hope you don’t have too long to wait. The important thing here is to remember there is no such thing as a silly question so please ask anything you like. We may not know the answer but may help ease your mind.

Please let us know how you get on, and try not to worry too much - I know it’s almost impossible to do that. Remember we have all been where you are now.

Good luck.
