In a lot of pain - Docetaxel

Hi all,

I’m on my 4th round of chemo and have just had the first of three Docetaxel. I’m in so much pain! My bones are incredibly painful and I’ve got shooting pains all over my body. I was prescribed morphine but it isn’t helping. I phoned the helpline and they said it’s probably from the injections but I’ve not had any pain from them before, so I’m pretty sure it’s the chemo. Did anyone else suffer like this? I can’t even get out of bed and I’ve not slept for three days :frowning:

Hi, sorry I didn’t have this drug in my chemo. I’m surprised the helpline wasn’t use. Are you able to talk to the oncologist, or leave a message with the breast care nurses to get the doctor to phone you back. Maybe there’s different pain meds they can give you. Good luck xx

Yes a lot of us felt like it was like being squeezed in a vice, Epsom salt baths helped for quite a lot of us, do contact your team they might be able to prescribe something else for you  I’m sorry it’s difficult, you can’t get comfy and the pain leaves you so you don’t know what to do with yourself, a lot of us understand and we’re sending soothing thought virtually :two_women_holding_hands::two_hearts::two_hearts::sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

Hi sorry you are in pain with the Docetaxal. I had a lot of pain with my first round. Pacing the floor with it. I was given Oramorph. It kept coming and going but wore off between day 5 and 7. They told me it was the injection I had the day afterwards was causing it. It’s horrible but I just kept an eye on my temp which was ok. On my second round now and it’s not as bad this time so I’m not sure if it gets better . Hope you get some help with the pain, sending hugs xxx

I’m also on Docetaxel and Phesgo injections and had severe bone pain after the first 2 cycles of chemo. I’ve had my 3rd now and the pain has now settled. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I couldn’t sit still and it was very debilitating. Hopefully yours will settle down but definitely speak to someone to see if they can recommend something to help you. Good luck x

Hi so glad I found this link - just had my first Docetaxal (I have 3) and initially I was ok but then started my Zarzio injections ( I have 5 days worth) these seem to have floored me with pains across my chest , knees and back. Hoping this eases - but grateful for any tips

I had the same for first couple of Docetaxel. I found the pain eased by the 4th. Pain was in my legs, ankles, feet, shoulders and back. Couldn’t sit still for long and felt like I’d got restless leg syndrome. Awful trouble sleeping too. Make sure to tell us your oncologist. It will get better and good luck. X
