Just posting this to add to the bank of info available for those searching in the future. Diagnosed with ER-positive invasive cancer on the left side in 2020. Mastectomy. Had annual mammograms on the right side every year since then. This year for the first time was recalled for calcifications they wanted to take another look at. Had another mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. Biopsy found only ‘atypical’ cells (I was told in situ lobular neoplasia but from what I can see some people use LCIS to refer to the same thing and some people categorise them as two slightly different things - I think mine was ALH as it was described as ‘atypical’). They took another biopsy to check there was nothing more than that in the area and found … nothing at all in the rest of the area, not even more of the same thing. Possibly because original area was only 7mm they assume everything suspicious removed by the first biopsy. So no further action required. Posting this up just because my main concern when I was first informed was that this would affect the treatment (tamoxifen) I’m already taking to prevent recurrence from the first diagnosis, but they don’t seem worried about that at all, so hope that might be useful to others.
