Increase in breathlessness

Hi ladies…some advice please? Ive just finished 2 weeks of dexamethasone 8mg last week reduced to 4mg and 2mg till today. Onc started me on it to ease cough and breathlessness and xray 2 weeks ago showed small amount fluid base of lung… Well cough has 99% gone but I actually feel today i’m more breathless. I’m currently away from home till Tuesday (less than 2 hrs away) but can get home earlier if need to. Should I be worried or should I ring someone…bearing in mind its the weekend now.
Results of first CT scan are on Wednesday xxxxx

I don’t know where you live Bev but it’s been very close, humid here, wonder if that’s not helped? Do you feel ok to get through the weekend and give someone a ring first thing Monday? Is it likely the hospital will have your scan results Monday so someone could put your mind at rest? Is the helpline here, BCC, open at weekends? It’s good the cough has improved. Do you have a named person to speak to on a weekend? Why do these things always happen at weekends?! Try not to worry, hard I know. Take Care. X

Hi Bev1004

As belinda suggested you could call our Helpline tomorrow to talk this over.  They are open from 10-2.  The number is 0808 800 6000

Very best wishes

Thanks both. will try and ring tomorro. Im in tenby in Pembrokeshire at the moment, but i live in Caerphilly. and it was lovely yesterday here quite warm. But today its been damp and windy. Would this make a difference? The steroids havent helped either…I’m constantly eating and feel very bloated. I never eat these amounts! I have gained 8lb in 10 days!!

Don’t know if you have looked up symptoms from steroids Bev but I do know over eating is a really common side effect. X

Hi…yes thanks having better day today and feeling much more myself…no dexamethasone today and the weather is drier and warmer so maybe that’s helped too.
Thanks for all your advice .
macie…can i ask how long youve had your mets ?

Hi macie…thanks for all that info. I’m clearly not asking enough at my appts! My lung secondaries are er receptor 3/8 and so I’ve been told hormone treatment will probably not benefit me. I also wondered about cyberknife and am going to ask on wed at my appt. Although there isnt one in wales at the moment. .so don’t know where I’d stand.
Take care…lots love
