Ive almost finished rads with four weeks done and one to go! I started tamoxifen about seven weeks ago. Now and again I get bad indegestion or irritation where food seems to have a rough job trying to get down and stay down. Like an uncomfortable burning feeling but hard to describe. I can particularly take it at night after i have taken the tam. Does or did anyone else experience this?
Hi I haven’t had rads yet or started my tamoxifen but have had horrid reflux type se from Chemo and lanzaprazole has worked great for it. Hope someone with more relevant experience gets back to you soon. Hope it improves
I have also been having bad indigestion since finishing rads and starting tamoxifen. I have been having a lot of heartburn whilst eating, some after eating and occasionaly in the night. The doctors prescribed Gaviscon initially to see how it works, but at the moment I am on steroids for my asthma so can’t take the Gaviscon for 5 days. It does seem to help though.
we’ve had a few threads on here about this and I recently started one on acid reflux which can cause the burning sensation you mention. It sounds like you may have acid reflux and the best thing is to go to your GP and talk through your symptoms. You may be given something like lansoprazole or omeprazole which will hopefully settle things down.
I had never had anything like this until I finished chemo and I also had rads and am on tamoxifen.
Other things that may help include ensuring you take your tablets with a small glass of water rather than a sip, not eating large meals and cutting out things like fried food, alcohol, coffee etc. I’ve found cutting down on fruit has made quite a difference but then trying to compensate with more veg. If you do an internet search you’ll find some advice on diet but look for reputable sites. Here’s one link to look at: patient.co.uk/health/Acid-Reflux-and-Oesophagitis.htm
