Indent or Dimpling?

I got home from the gym and noticed a slight indent(?) in my left breast. I’m not sure if it is a stretch mark from a previous pregnancy or cancer. Google searches are triggering my anxiety. I did message my OBGYN for a possible mammogram. My routine pap isn’t until 12/31.

I added some photos to reference. I only see it when my arms are raised. I don’t feel any lumps and no other symptoms.

@jaybaby best thing to get it checked. I found my 24mm cancer having spotted dimpling when my arms were raised. It may be nothing but better to find out. Good luck

Hello jaybaby

Thank you for contacting Breast Cancer Now.

As you refer to your OBGYN and the date formatted as 12/31 we wonder if you are contacting us from overseas, possibly the US. We’re a national organisation providing information and support to anyone living in the UK. The information we offer is specific to what is currently available in the UK. As treatments and healthcare services vary so much in different countries, it’s difficult for us to answer queries from overseas.

However, we do encourage everyone to be breast aware. Being breast aware means getting to know what your breasts look and feel like normally (for you). For more information see our booklet Know your breasts: a guide to breast awareness and screening.

Breast changes can happen for many reasons but as @elsie1 its best to get changes checked out. So do speak to your doctor about the dent you have noticed in your breast when you raise your arm.

If you are in the UK do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks. The number is 0808 800 6000, If you have hearing or speech difficulties prefix our number with 18001 and the call will go through Relay UK. Our helpline has access to telephone interpreters if language translation is required.

If you are in the US, you may find the Susan Komen Foundation helpful.

Best wishes

Jane
