Hi - earlier on this week I noticed the wound area was getting harder, redder and swollen/puffy on chest area.
I was seen at the BC clinic and surgeon said possible infection so on 7 days of antibiotics-
This is third day on meds - still rock hard - is it best to wear bra or not?
Feel quite a bit of pressure because of the swelling - uncomfortable not painful - just want to make sure I’m doing the right thing.
No swelling in arm - just the top of scar line - and a bit underarm around scar.
Many thanks
So sorry to read you are feeling uncomfortable, was wondering if you have had a reconstruction.
Please to hear you have antibiotics, keep the area clean I would suggest if it carries on to try and call your team, however with the bank holiday this could be a bit difficult or 111 for advise
Wishing you well, please let us know how you’re getting on.
Thank you - no reconstruction - was doing so well - no bruising - now I’ve got bruising as well !
Lovely to have a long weekend but makes me a bit nervous - however have antibiotics at least - keep looking at it in the mirror wondering if it looks the same - worse or better!!!
May be posting here over the next few days! Find it such a support - thank you and love to all of you . X
Hi @julieytey I had an infection 7 weeks after mastectomy too. Ended up having 3 weeks of antibiotics but it did get rid of it. I wore the comfiest bra with my softie as they weren’t sure to start with if it was my prosthetic that caused it.
If I was you I would go with whatever feels comfortable. Hope it soon clears up and you feel better.
Good to hear that it cleared up.
Thank you for posting - has made me feel much better. Did it get worse before it got better?
The redness has spread for sure.
