Inflammatory breast cancer at 31

Thursday I found out I have inflammatory breast cancer in my left breast. 2 weeks ago dr throught I had an infection. So my head is in a spin. I see the oncologist Tuesday and got my ct scan Thursday. Already had an MRI. I am starting with chemo then mastectomy? Tablets and radiotherapy apparently it’s all a lot to take in. I have a 4 year old girl and not eligible for fertility treatment on NHS so had to say we won’t be having anymore kids.

I am finding it so hard to tell my little girl. I have the my mummy has a lump book but can’t read it without crying. I am so strong for her in day I fall apart at night.

Hi D,horrible ,horrible time .Being diagnosed with cancer really shocks you to the core and there is so much to get your head around in the beginning.Im not surprised you are finding it hard to talk to your little girl.Give yourself a little breathing space ,you don’t have to tell her yet.Hopefully when you have spoken to the Oncologist and had your scan you will feel a bit calmer as you will have a clear plan of action. If you go to the going through treatment section of the website, there are monthly threads were people going through chemo support each other and share tips etc you could join the Feb or March thread.Jill.

Ps there is also a section"Talk to someone like me" where there is a thread for younger women .xx

So sorry you have found yourself here, it’s a crap club to be in but a fabulous place for  support or to rant whatever works for you at the moment. I am 48 and my children  are 10 so a bit older, as someone has said you don’t need to say anything  at the present we found it easier when we had more information and had time to process  things a bit more  which was a couple of weeks after diagnoses  (beginning of feb). Everyone is different but please don’t feel  you need to climb that mountain now. Sending hugs xxx
