Hi All
Has anyone on this site been diagnosed with this rare type of aggressive breast cancer.I was recently diagnosed and am trying to raise the profile of this particular cancer. They say only 50% of women who get this reach the 5 year mark which is shocking.I’m presently on FEC and this will be followed by Taxotere.

Hi Tina!
I’m a fellow IBCer, and agree that the stats are pretty rubbish.
My tumour was huge (13 x 10cm), and grew very quickly (probably as I was breastfeeding), and at grade 3, stage 3 my prognosis was poor. Almost 8 months down the line I’ve finished the chemo / surgery & rads, and just have herceptin to contend with, and things look much brighter.
If there’s anything you want to ask, I’ll help if I can, as will the other IBCers.
Best wishes, Rebecca
If you click on Search at the top of the page and enter IBC you will find quite a lot of fellow sufferers. All the best,Vxx

Hi Tina,
Can I recommend a book called Lopsided by Meredith Norton, who had IBC? I have a different type of BC but found the book very positive and hopeful.
All good wishes, Irina xx
Popping this back to the top

Hi all
I too have IBC, first it was diagnosed as IDC, Grade 3, aggressive blah blah, but after changing hospitals half way through taxotere I discovered it is actually IBC.
Now I’ve had 6 courses of tax, tomorrow I am undergoing full mastectomy and node clearance which will be followed by rads and possibly more chemo.
I am scared and hoping the results will be better than at first diagnosed, but we’ll see. I’ve responded well to taxotere and now the tumour/mass is 2.5 cms from at least 8cms in June.
Also HER2+ so am having Herceptin.
Best wishes to all
xx
Hi Peacock all the best for tomorrow love junieliz
Hi, I was diagnosed with IBC in August 2003. Had FEC for 4 months, followed by Patey mastectomy in January 2004 - breast, pectoral muscle and lymph gland removal - then weeks of radiotherapy. My oncologist didn’t think I’d get through the chemo, but here I am five years later. So good luck to you and all fellow sufferers. Shogun 50
Hi Tina
I was diagnosed with IBC last November and did the 4 sessions of FEC and then 4 of taxotere. Followed by mastectomy and radiotherapy for 6 weeks. It takes a year out of your life. My hair is growing back, the pain is beginning to ease a little and I am hoping that it is all out of my system. I wish you loads of luck with the road ahead and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Thanks Shogun50 for your encouraging words. All too often we only here about the poor statistics after a dx of IBC. You are living proof that there’s always hope and that things have moved on considerably treatment wise for us. I wish you continued good health.
