hi, I had the injection you are talking about after 5 of my cycles, i had the symptoms you are describing. It gradually wore off with each day, and strangely with me, the pain got less with each one i had. I used a hot water bottle on the throbbing back pain, and after that first injection i asked for codiene, which helped a lot the next time i had it.
hope it eases for you
take care
anna
thanks anna
it dosnt seem to be getting less but maybe its early days
i have the hot water bottle lol
and taking paracetamol
they didnt want to give me codine as i had it in hospital and it made me very spaced out and i didnt like it
maybe i will have it next time
i only have 1 more chemo to go and i never thought id get this far its been so hard
now its so close to over it seems so far away
and i keep crying lol
sorry, having a moan lol
Hi, you are doing so well and nearly there, just think, the next cycle you have you can say to yourself, thats it, no more. I can promise you its a great feeling to know that you will feel better and not have another one in 3 weeks. Having a cry is probably a good thing too, its a very emotional time from day 1 of being diagnosed, and yes we are strong and get through it, but we are no less strong for allowing our selves to cry, sometimes its needed.
i also found having a nice warm soak in the bath helped ease the pains, just remember, it will go, it will be less tomorrow, and soon will be gone.
take care
annaxx
Yes, I have to have the GSCF injections too after each chemo (because I went neutropenic after first cycle) - I was having one a day for 3 days, but because my neuts went down again last cycle, theyve just upped it to one a day for 5 days post chemo.
Ohh, god, I know how next week will be spent - with hot water bottles, dressing gowns and Ibuprofen, cup-a-soup and the sofa!!
But - think positively about the aches and pains - it shows your bone marrow is working overtime to get those white blood cells up!
Has anyone had anymore than 5 injections for the 5 days post-chemo?? Im wondering if I’ll end up with injections for a week after chemo before I finish at this rate
I had Neulasta injection after each tax-the pain was usually in my neck and jaw.I also had pain in back and legs and was told to take diclofenac and cocodamol together and that sorted it.
I did the Neulasta injection too the day after each chemo, I was bedridden the day after but that was due to chemo SE I think and not the injection. It didn’t work by the 5th cycle as I was neutropenic and in hospital for 6 days, maybe if I’d had more than 1 it would have helped.
