Introducing myself

Hi, my name is JudeAnne.

I had a grade 2 invasive lobular carcinoma about 4cm which was completely removed, plus 3 nodes, last September. It is the type where I will take hormone medication after everything for at least the next 5 yrs. I can’t remember which one. I have 5 weeks of chemo left, and then a few weeks of radiotherapy.

The side effects could have been been a lot worse from what one reads and what I was told. So I am thankful for that.  With the exception of a bout of shingles early in my chemo,  the last few weeks I have had very little energy and has probably been the worst of the chemo side effects for me so far. With the exception that after having my covid booster some weeks ago, my weekly chemo now somehow upsets the arthritis in my joins especially from my knees down, so that on about the third day after my chemo I get horrendous pain in them.

We, I, my husband, and our adult daughter live out in the middle of agricultural land on the eastern side of central southern Queensland, Australia,  a 20 min drive to the nearest small town. We are in a valley of the Australian Great Dividing range. Lovely and quiet. We have only lived here for the last 3 yrs, just before covid hit. Before that we lived about an hour and a half east towards Brisbane our state capital city for about 5 yrs. Before that we were all born and bred in Victoria, 2 states or 1700 km south of here.

Derek and I are retired, and in our late 60s, our daughter, in her mid 40s, is a senior vet nurse at the university campus 40mins from here.  Derek and I are owned by a pair of loving, but tyrannical Siamese cats, and our daughter by a Cocker Spaniel. All totally indoor animals.

I am very much into my crafts. I am a spinner, weaver, and embroiderer.  I also knit/crochet, dye, read, and try a lot of other crafts.

Sorry I do tend to ramble.

Cheers

Hello Jude Anne

you won’t find many on the site at this time…as it’s mainly brits and they will mainly be asleep in bed! But I’m sure more will come on to say hello later on… I think there’s several ladies also into Crafting on here …so you will be in good company! Is it letrozole or anstrozole tablets you’ve been prescribed? I’m on letrozole…I get side effects …but not too badly…we have family near Perth…been a few times…but not yet been anywhere abroad since Covid, cancer and chemo …hoping to get to the Balearics this year though.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment.

Hello fellow crafter I love crafting not only making but looking at what other people make seeing some of the beautiful work people do, can really lift me when feeling down.
I make quirky things (so I am told) at the moment I am making braided wall hangings, along with themed wreaths, beach, fairies, Alice in wonderland, you name it I will go it ago -  lace wedding wreaths, decoupage, decorating old chairs and things… so long as colour is involved I am in my element.

I live with four cats, who often help with the wool sorting found several pompoms all shredded the other day.
I live rurally about 6 miles from a small town I am 64 almost 65 have a farmhouse with about 4 acres, did have several pet sheep once, Soay, Jacobs and Shetland.
These days a farmer uses the land for his cows my sheepie girls all living out their days naturally.

Have a nice day/evening no idea what time it is where you are.
Lots of hugs, and good wishes

Poppy xx
