Hi, since being diagnosed 3 weeks ago, and being told by dr “YOU DO KNOW IT CANCER DONT YOU!”
Well no, that’s why I’m here!
I now know it’s 2.6cm invasive, dcis, and may be sat on my chest wall ( well not may , it is lol ) so far grade 1. But looking at the research I think due to size it grade 2. On hol at moment , back tomorrow, and op on sat, lumpectomy, I text messages my bcn, as my mind is over thinking, she said until they test is properly , we don’t know exactly what it is. As my rather insensitive surgeon said, " one step at a time".
Oh have to get my radioactive injection on Friday before op on sat, all now becoming real. I think Iv been In Denial .
Sorry for rambling, I just confused a little ref all the different diagnoses,s x
Hi Susan8574
Whilst you are waiting for the other users to reply with their knowledge and support you might find it helpful to talk things through with a member of staff on the BCC helpline. Here you can share your thoughts and concerns with someone who will offer you a listening ear as well as emotional support and practical information. The number to call is 0808 800 6000 and lines are open weekdays 9 to 5pm and Saturday
10 to 2pm.
Best wishes Sam, BCC Facilitator
Hi, it’s very confusing. I had grade 3 invasive ductal tumour with high grade DCIS x 2 one looked 5cm from mammogram and biopsy the other 1cm but that one looked benign. After the op and tests on the lumps they said one was 7x8cm the other 2cm both invasive plus 26/27 lymph nodes with cancer.
Sometimes they just can’t tell til they’ve operated and have the thing out in the open. It’s only then that they can confirm the best treatment for you.
I was in denial and very positive until about 6weeks post op and started of chemo, since then I’ve been a wreck!
I don’t think one step at s time is insensitive, there’s only so much info you can take on board , but if you want more just ask for it. I’m more receptive to the info now , it’s just dawning on me how serious my diagnosis was! But don’t think I would have coped with the op if I’d realised sooner, if that makes sense.
Good luck on Saturday.
Read lots of the threads for some positive vibes, and keep popping back for more.
X
Hi susan, most of the time Im in denial and then little bits of subconcious panic leak out of my eyes at random times. Its hard to be calm when you dont have enough knowledge.
I hope everything went well and now they have all the answers they need for you.

Hi Suzanne…I am in a similar situation. Diagnosed last week with DCIS - dreading 4 jr surgery next week. Terrified. Not eating/sleeping …permanently tearful. Hope I can do this - no alternative tho is there? Stay positive. Xx
