This is going to sound mad but was anyone else unsure what an inverted nipple was supposed to look like.??..my thought was a nipple totally turned inward. I had my mammogram n ultrasound and core biopsy taken yesterday and when asked about inverted nipple said “oh no my nipples ok”, thinking (maybe stupidly) that inverted meant totaly inwards. so this morning i kept thinking about it and just had to look online and it’s not what i thought at all and mine is actually inverted. i feel quite stupid being 41 and not realised what and inverted nipple actually was x

If you are wondering about whether or not your nipples are inverted, gently compress the areola (the pigmented area around the nipple) between your thumb and forefinger. Most nipples will protrude. Flat nipples donÌt do anything at all. Inverted nipples will retract. It is not unusual to have one nipple that is flat or inverted and one that is not.

How fascinating, I had no idea what an inverted nipple looked like either. So if you feel stupid that means I’m even more stupid since I’m 52 and didn’t realise what an inverted nipple really is!
OOhh thats an interesting test, can’t do it at mo as my lump was mainly under my nipple so core biopsy was taken on aereola and can’t press on nipple at mo but will definatly try when it’s not so sore etc. having flippin boobies isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! xxx
