Is blood discharge total doom?

I have started this thread for new user Rebecca

Hello, I noticed small spots of blood on my bra and realised it had been coming from my left nipple. On further inspection of my laundry basket, this was on several bras and must have been going on for a few days before I noticed it. My doctor can feel no lumps but has referred me to the hospital breast clinic on Tuesday 23rd Dec. I am obviously very worried, I can’t seem to find any info through google that suggests it could be anything other than bc. I have a 9 year old, 6 year old and 3 year old twins, who are keeping me fairly distracted but I just feel like I need something positive to try and focus on. I assume I will be unlikely to have answers this side of Xmas. I did have a hard swelling in the same breast at the end of September, but this seemed to clear away with antibiotics.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the discharge, and can you let me know what I might expect in terms of tests etc. on Tuesday.

Thanks Rebecca x

My partner had exactly the same symptoms which turned out to be no more than ezcema, despite having never had ezcema anywhere else.

Hi Rebecca

You may find it helpful to read the BCC booklet about being referred to a breast clinic. It can be found by following the link below:-

breastcancercare.org.uk//docs/referral_redesign__final_14_feb_08_0.pdf

Please do call the helpline if you feel it would help to talk your concerns through with someone in confidence, the line is open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Sat 9am-2pm on 0808 800 6000.

Best wishes
Lucy
