Is DCIS classed as a re occurrence if it’s a second diagnosis

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with invasive ductual carcinoma, grade 3 in 2007. I had a Lumpectomy, all Lymph nodes clear and removed, chemo, radiotherapy and hormone treatment. I had a second diagnosis in Feb 2019 of DCIS and had a masectomy. I am so relived they caught it all during surgery and i don’t need any further treatment. We’ve been back to the Breast clinic to talk about re construction as well as lots of questions. I thought the DCIS wasn’t a new primary breast cancer  but surgeon has said it was associated with the first cancer in 2007. So I’m confused now if DCIS is a new primary or classed as a re occurrence. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Lots of love and hugs to you all. xx
