Is it only bones, liver and boob that recurrence happens?
Is it only bones, liver and boob that recurrence happens? Hello ladies,
I am on Herceptin (7th dose) and see the onc every 3 months for heart scans and blood. I now see my Breast Surgeon every 6 months.
This is obviously good news but with this horrible disease lurking around is there anything we should particularly be looking out for to indicate recurrence? The only thing I feel is so very very tired, but I suppose this is to be expected after all the treatment and Herceptin.
I wish there was a symptomatic guide book that we were given to watch out for.
Thanks
Sue
Sue6 Sadly br ca can turn up anywhere but only other likely spot not on your list is lungs. Expect your awful tiredness is the result of the treatment. You are being well monitored so if anything’s wrong it should get picked up pronto - don’t get worried Always tell your onc ALL your symptoms. This sounds obvious, but it’s very easy to ascribe odd worries to innocent causes- I’ve done it and paid for it. Are you managing to eat well- loadsa fresh veg, good food? Find out what vitamin supplements fit your treatment. Vitamin E is recommended for all treatments but is poorly absorbed via pills. Wheatgerm and ground almonds contain lots of available vit E and are easy to sprinkle [generously] on brek cereals/ muesli/yoghurt. Oily fish and flaxseed [need to grind it], or if you can bear the taste flaxseed oil, provide omega3. If you want to try the Joanna Budwig scoff ground flaxseed/flaxseed oil and yoghurt/cottage cheese- regardless of the claims it will help build yourself up and do you loadsa good. Hope you feel brighter soon-look after yourself, dilly
For Sue Hi Sue
Just wanted to add that ive had a recurrence in 3 of my supraclavicular lymph nodes. My Oncolgist found a kidney bean shaped lump on my collarbone when he was examining me on a routine appointment, so i guess thats another place to look out for. Have to say - i dont think i would of found it as no one told me to check this area.
Take care

My oncologist has advised me that any symptoms that last any longer then a couple of weeks need to be checked out. I have had so many different aches and pains since my diagnosis. Like you I also still feel tired. It’s not really surprising that we feel like this when you think of the treatment we have all been through.
