Is it possible to survive a bilateral breast cancer?

Good evening ladies

First diagnosed: IDC left breast in August. Underwent two WLE and full axillary clearance October and November 2019. I had 5 out of 18 lymph nodes affected. I was just about to star chemotherapy and two weeks ago I found  lump on the right breast.

Results came this week: grade 1, 17 mm, HER2 negative and hormone positive, same receptors from the other breast.

Oncologist wants me to repeat CT scan on 12/12 in order to start chemotherapy.

Ladies I just want to hear from

you what do you think about my

chances?

I have to deal with two primary breast cancer at same time.

i would appreciate answers.

kund regards

Hi Adriana

I saw your post and noticed that you haven’t had any responses, I don’t have a similar diagnosis to you but I can highly recommend the “someone like me” service that you can set up through the helpline. They will be able to put you in touch with other women who have had a similar diagnosis…I found it super helpful. Hope all goes well for you.

Sending you love. X

Hi Adriana,

I haven’t personally dealt with cancer in both breasts, but from what I know, I do see some positives.  It looks like you have some good receptors so that makes it easier to treat the cancer.  Grade 1 (slow growing) is good and HER2 - is good as well and hormone positive is good.  That means it can be treated with anti-hormone pills.  They say 99 percent is attitude.  :-)  I see positives to an unfortunate diagnosis.  Please keep us updated and I will pray for you.

Jeeez, Drida, two at the same time?!! That’s blummin unbelievable, to say the least, and be polite!!!

Sweetheart, I thought I was unlucky with another “separate” primary diag, just a year later. First was a small, but grade 3, oestrogen +ve tumour > mastectomy + total ANC (standard at that time 2006)

2nd (literally a year, 2007) - Not related to first, i.e. was another “Primary”. But also Her +ve. Cannot remember what grade! as by that time, I just felt “Get rid of the bleep” with another mastectomy and ANC.

I caught both early enough to not require chemo. My choice of mastectomy and ANC, as oppo lumpectomies, meant no rads required (in those days). I wanted immediate recon with both, and no rads meant no tissue damage to prevent such. As it was, immed recon didn’t happen with either, due to other life “stuff”/traumas/losses getting in the way. Took until 2014 to finally embark on initial silicon recon op. 7 and 8 yrs later !!

Where are you up to with things at this moment/date, Drida??

Please keep us in touch with how you’re doing. I hope there’s someone out there who’s shared similar to you? I’m not wishing it, obviously. Goes without saying.

Also goes without saying, I wish you STRENGTH to deal with and overcome it all. We’re here for you, to support, whatever your needs. Sometimes just having a kindred someone, even if it’s not the same, but just to listen, can help.

Sending you lots of love and healing thoughts
