Random question… I’m on capecitabine at the moment and wondered if it’s safe to swim in a lake? I’m on holiday and there’s a place nearby which we know well and has a lake specific for swimming. I normally swim there every year and love it but wanted others opinions as to whether it would be safe when on chemo. What do people think?

I sea swim - when I asked if it was ok to continue during chemo I was told it was fine, so I have continued to do so. I wear sea shoes to avoid cuts, and obviously pay attention to water quality information.

My oncologist was not keen on me swimming at all during treatment but when i explained it reallt helped with my mental health she told me there was less risk open swimming than in swimming pools.
Id give it a go but just make sure you shower thoroughly after.
Have fun
