Hi
Not sure if I am posting in the right place, but figured ‘In you area’ is the closest to appropriate that I could find. Apologies if I am wrong.
Does anyone know if the Worthing Breast Clinic offers a one-stop service? I.e. if I have an u/s biopsy in the morning, will I get the result while I am there? How long does it normally take to get results from a biopsy at a one-stop?
I have an appt on Thursday and the hubby has an important meeting. He is willing to bunk it, but if I am not likely to get a result on the same day, I might opt to take a friend instead.
I am due to receive feedback from a MRI biopsy that was done a week and a half ago anyway. But I think they might not give me the full whack until they have all the ‘spots’ checked and there is 1 that still needs a biopsy.
Thanks

I had to wait about 10 days for my original results but that was a long time ago. I would be surprised if you get results on the day.
Hi,
Not answering your question, but just pleased to see it as I am from Worthing! - now living in Canada
I did attend the breast clinic twice, many years ago, with lumps that were ultrasounded, aspirated and diagnosed at that time (same day) as simple cysts. They did not send any specimens off for analysis, just aspirated fluid and flushed it down the sink, which I remember feeling somewhat indignant about!
I’m coming back next week to visit family. My brother’s wife, also in Worthing, was diagnosed with cancer last September, but had all her treatment at Goring Hall, as they had insurance through work. The only thing was, she had to travel to Havant or somewhere for her daily radiation therapy, because it was private healthcare, which was a bit of a pain!
Hi ThinLizzie
I’m from Hove and had my treatment at the Parkview in Brighton. When i went for my initial tests 4 years ago I went alone, whilst doing the US they told me I had BC. I was alone and totally unprepared for the news and struggled to drive home because I was in shock.
I would definately advise you to take someone along with you, if they know anything they will tell you and won’t necessarily wait until they have all the results.
I do hope everything goes well & will keep my fingers crossed for you tomorrow.
big hugs
Stella
Thanks so much for the responses. The hubby decided he WANTS to come with me. He earned some brownie points there! Actually, he’s been a complete rock so far.
Peony girl, if I have to wait another 10 days before they give me results, I think I’ll faint! It feels like I’ve been up and down to the clinic like a yoyo, each time being told more/different tests are needed! I know it is not that many times, but it feels like it! Are you ok now?
Morwenna, nice to ‘meet’. We have almost passed each other in and out of the country. We moved to the UK in 2006. I am from Chichester area but have been seen at Worthing so far. They are really very thorough and I cannot fault their actions to date. It is not their fault that I am running out of steam. I am sorry to hear your sis-in-law was dx (at about the same time as you?). Howv are you both doing? I see that you just recently finished a course of rad. Are you ok to travel? I am so grateful for NHS as we don’t have private cover.
Stella, how awful for you to receive the news alone. I am such a wimp I am sure I would not have survived if they gave me such news at my first u/s, which I also went to alone. I have had time to get used to the idea and though I dearly pray for an all clear result, I am ready for a dx too. Any news will be welcome! I was a bit concerned that they might not give me a result as the bs has been so careful to not say the cancer word to date or to commit to anything that could be interpreted as a dx, really. I appreciate that he errs on the side of caution as the hope that it might still turn out to be all ok, has been keeping me upright! How are you, 4 years on?
I will appreciate your thoughts and fingers & toes crossed for me tomorrow. I am feeling pretty calm now, but guess that about an hour before the appointment my body is likely to dissolve into jelly!
xx
Hi I have had my treatment at Worthing but was not dx there. I think it will depend upon whether they need to take physical samples and have them anylised. It could be that as you have had the mri they already have an idea and can give you your results.Whatever do take someone with you as it will be difficult to take it all in. Why don’t you give the clinic a ring and ask them, maybe they can tell you what is happening. Did they give you a number for the breast care nurses when you first attended? They are usually clued up and can answer your queries.
Hope everything goes well for you.
I had my last radiation treatment today!
Nobody has suggested that I shouldn’t travel. But I only told the rads nurse my plans today when she was explaining how I can call her if I get concerns as I will get worse for the next week or two.
I’m mildly concerned about how sore/tired I will be when I fly next week. I’ve been more worried about what is going on with my anticoagulation management as I’ve just switched from heparin injections to oral warfarin, which requires frequent blood draws and adjustments.
My sister-in-law started her story about a month ahead of me, but I had two surgeries and then 24 weeks of chemo to her 18, so she finished her rads a while back. She had a hysterectomy/oophrectomy early July, and is currently on herceptin. Then I think she has tamoxifen or something, while I have no more treatment planned, being triple negative!
My parents seem to have difficulty at times, grasping how different each person’s cancer story can be!
I never found out today if Worthing is 1 stop or not as I did not have an u/s biopsy. I had further mammograms and they have them immediately available.
I did find out that I don’t have cancer and though another biopsy is needed, there is no need for concern. Very relieved indeed.

Hi ladies
I was diagnosed in Worthing in 2008, (aged 38) after a biopsy of what I was assured would be a benign cyst ( got the results from the biopsy 2 weeks later) I then had a lumpectomy of this presumed benign cyst which is when it was discovered it was malignant.
I had a mastectomy and immediate recon at East Grinstead ( a very impressive service, there! - they were extremely kind and very good indeed )
I had radiotherapy afterwards at Brighton
All my aftercare and follow up appointments ( aside from surgery check ups and nipple tattoo etc) were at worthing and I continue to have yearly mamograms on the ‘good’ boob! - I had my 5 year mamo about 3 weeks ago and still waiting the letter to confirm all is ok - so am starting to worry a bit now :-(
I dont know if things have changed, but Worthing was certainly not a one stop shop!!
