Please can anyone tell me how long the first administration of FEC-T takes? How long where you in the chemotherapy department?
Sorry only just seen this and you are probably having the treatment now! You can expect to be there for about 3 hours add a bit if you are cold capping.
You will not feel bad right away - but a few hours later you might be feeling sick. Take any medication they give you and if you are sick (as opposed to feeling sick) they can give you a better but more expense drug but they don’t give them out in case you are able to cope without.
Don’t worry about it - plenty of us have been through chemo and we are still here. It is uncomfortable at times but soon over.
Hi H, just seen this, so it’s probably all done now? Hope it went ok for you. I had a Hickman line in, so it only took about an hour all told. Weighing me, mixing infusion, getting it in. Take ALL your meds, especially pain ones. Don’t wait until you are in pain, or feel sick. Keep on top of it all. Good luck. X
I wish mine was a couple of hours, My 3rd is next week and I seem to spend most of the day waiting while nurses, chat between themselves, leave me sitting while they have coffee breaks etc.
Last visit I was there for 6 hours, most of it was spent waiting whilst listening to the drip beeping and beeping as bags empty. I waited a hour between anti sickness drugs and the actual chemo, then was told they needed a coffee break
Hi.
I had my first round on Thursday. We had to be in by 9am, we were home by 12.30. Not sure if that’s normal!
Good luck
