@LollyBlue
Sorry to hear this. A few things to consider and I have been in the same boat with regards to a very low risk but with recurrence. Ask them to do all the tests now in terms of MRI CAT scans and so forth so you have all the information before you go to that first meeting it just means less waiting and if you have a good relationship with your surgeon, they will hopefully order the tests in advance. Secondly, the thickening might be as a result of tamoxifen as it is a known cause of thickening. In my case, I got a pelvic ultrasound and it was clear despite the thickening.
Lastly, I didn’t read that there was any enlarged Lymph nodes. Did they do an ultrasound? If so, maybe it’s good news on this front?
Lastly, as you know already the waiting is probably the worst part so try not to overthink things and keep yourself busy in the meantime. I know it’s important to prepare yourself at the same time but if you can get a march on some of those tests you’ll have more information and less waiting in the long run. The very best of luck and I hope that you’re not back here.
Thank you, I have an appointment already for Friday for my CAT scan, I had a mammogram (on my good boob) today whilst at the clinic and that’s ok. And I have an appointment for the 12th again with my consultant to discuss scans and plan going forward, so all moving well and quickly. Feeling more positive after today’s appointment x
My CT scan showed suspicious areas on my L2 3&4 and also on my liver & thyroid, when I heard this I started planning my funeral, after PET scan they discovered I had benign haemangiomas on my spine, a simple large cyst on my liver and benign nodules on my thyroid, I also had a neck lymph node biopsy which was insignificant but highlighted on the scan, they have to check everything once it ‘glows’ on the scans. I’ve just completed chemo & RT and about to go on holiday! The early part of this journey was the hardest! Good luck x
Hi LollyBlue.Sorry you’re having to go through all this again.I’ve just come off Tamoxifen after taking it for 5 years.I’m so anxious stopping as I constantly think it will come back now that I’m not taking anything!I also have thickening of the womb due to the tamoxifen.I’ve also had two very large polyps removed, again due to the Tamoxifen.Thinks there’s always a risk of this happening whilst taking this drug. They just told me to report any abnormal bleeding.I’m 57 and no longer have periods so it’s easy to keep an eye on.It’s one enormous worry isn’t it.It never leaves us sadly.Sending you best wishes and hope everything goes ok xx
Oh that gives me hope thanks so much for getting in touch. You do automatically think what else could it be don’t you xx
Wishing you all the best x
This must be the most difficult time for you waiting for results. Sending love that they are all clear. It’s so hard to not worry ( even without any results pending) I had similar primary BC treatment to yourself last year. It never leaves my mind. Xx
Thanks so much, it is the worst time, trying to be positive while waiting is hard x
So sorry you are having to go through this worry. I really hope that there is an innocent explanation to all this but agree it is good news that they have said even if it is the nasty C back that it is treatable. Keeping everything crossed for you and hope you have more answers very soon xxx
Thanks for getting in touch, everything double crossed here xx
Well I was not expecting that!
After seeing my consultant this morning - it’s not cancer, it’s a historic lesion. I was so shocked, I asked him is there a but there wasn’t!
I am having a bone scan as precaution and a further MRI in 6 months. But for now I am relieved x
Thanks so much for all your replies, it meant a lot.
So pleased to read this, super happy for you! xx
Yes!!! Just a reminder that aging happens to all of us and what we see isn’t always cancer So happy for you, Lolly!
I was in so much shock, he came in with 2 nurses and I immediately said oh there are 2 of you it must be bad, and one of the nurses said, no I’m just new
Even when he said everything was fine, I said is there a but? I’m still in disbelief really, there’s a lot of tension to be released x
Aww, thats great news. I have a tear in my eye reading that. So pleased to hear positive news. Take care x
I’ve worried so many people telling them it’s back, they are now just pleased it’s not the case. I’m just glad I haven’t had to put my parents through it (sadly they’ve both passed)
Oh I can imagine. You go from thinking stage 4 and dear god treatment forever to no cancer at all. It’s a 180 in the best way but still a 180. Just breath. You’re okay. It’s fine. Just a weird aging issue. Your brain will believe it soon enough and you can recover your equilibrium. So happy for you though!!! We all like stuff like this
