It’s confirmed

Hi,

So, yesterday I attended my results appointment following the triple assessment.

I have been diagnosed with Grade 2 Invasive Lobular Carcinoma, ER - positive HER2 - negative. I also had an enlarged lymph node in the axilla biopsied and this shows cancer as well.

I will now be having a CT scan to see if it has spread anywhere else. If not, I will be having a mastectomy and axillary clearance followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. If it has spread I will be sent to oncology where I will undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy then return to the breast team for the mastectomy.

It’s a lot to take in but after 24 days waiting to find out what was going on, it’s good to know. So just need the CT scan results.

sending love to all of those on this journey xx

Thank you, in very good news, I’ve had a call today and the scan is tomorrow - I was fully expecting a 2 week wait for that so I’m really happy it’s so fast x

The quicker you get that done the quicker you get a treatment plan and know what you’re doing.

I am pleased you have got your CT scan through quickly it’s a weird feeling the dye they put in it makes you feel like you need to go to the bathroom. Xxxx you know you have my love and support xx

Thank you so much xx I’m so glad I found this site, so far I have received nothing but kindness and support x

that sounds very strange - thank you for the heads up! Does it take very long for the scan itself? I’ve never had one before xx

You will get there and they will pop a cannala in and flush it through, once that’s done they will call you to the CT room and you will lie down with your arms up behind your head. They will double check they are happy with the cannala before popping the dye in. You then go into the polo mint 3-4 times breathing in and out when the machine tells you. Takes about 10min or so ~ I closed my eyes to be honest. After then they make you wait 10min to check your ok before leaving, it’s not painful xxxx

Hi, so I had my CT scan yesterday, it was just how you described - it was so helpful to know what to expect, so thank you so much for explaining xx

Apart from finding it tricky to cannulate me and taking three goes to get the vein, the scan was quick and painless. As with everything in this situation, the wait for results will by far be the worst part.

I will of course update when I receive the results.

Sending love
