Hi Ladies,
Ive been on tamoxifen for over a year now and experiencing itching and vaginal discharge. Is there anyone out there experiencing the same side effects?
My Doctor has prescribed a Cortisone cream for the itching but havnt used it as yet.
I’m also very dry down below so sex is out of the question!

I have constantly suffered with vaginal itching and dryness since starting Tamoxifen in may 04, I usually use Canastean cream and a pessary…but sometimes this has not helped and have been given oral tablets by my GP you can buy one of them over the counter [Diafucal…or something like that] but it is quite expensive to buy and its best to check with your GP if its safe for you to take it first.
I also use Sylk everyday to help with the vaginal dryness…I think there are others you could try too…think one of them is called Replens and may be available on prescription…I’m sure someone will come along soon who will be able to give you more information.

Hi ladies. I get this problem and I find Replens good. It doesn’t have oestrogen in it like some things, so is safe for me to use. The first time I got it on prescription, but last time I bought it over the counter although it works out more expensive that way. I got mine from Boots.

Hi ladies. I had the same problem with the combination of Taxotere and Herceptin last year, I also went through the menopause without knowing. I found Replens excellent, but I had to buy it as I could not get a prescription for it. I’m waiting to be referred to someone who deals with post menopausal women as my sex life finished with the first cycle of chemo and I now have no desire of libido. I’m only 46 so don’t want this situation to persist as I’ve been married 22 years.
Mine started almost immediately. Got Premarin cream for the vaginal dryness as comfort outweighed risk…minimal dosage. Have steroid crime for itch. Works but not well. Not happy
