itchy rash around nipple area

Hi im new to this. I have bee worrying about my breasts for a few months now. I have a rash around my left nipple it comes and goes.

At first i thought it may be eczema as it was dry and itchy but now im starting to think it may be something else and i dont know who to talk to about it.

I dont feel comfortable at the doctors practice im in as i feel they dont take anything seriously and they want you in and out the door as quickly as possible. Is there anywhere to have your breasts checked without having to be referred from the doctor first?

Im quite young as im only 23 but its better to be safe than sorry i guess. Has anyone had this before and if so should i be worried? There is no case of breast cancer in my family but my mind is going into overdrive worrying about it.

Thanks x

Hi snowball88,

Welcome to the BCC Discussion Forums. I’m sure other forum users will be along soon to offer support but in the meantime I wanted to suggest that it might help to give the BCC Helpline a call, Tel 0808 800 6000. It’s open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Sat 9am-2pm, offering confidential information and support.

With best wishes,
Anna, BCC Facilitator

Hello there Snowball,

The BCC telephone helpline is fantastic, and everyone who answers the phones is really caring and knowledgeable, so give them a ring tomorrow.

In the meantime, just asuggestion I thought of as I was reading your post - do you have a women’s health clinic in your area, where you can go for contraceptive advice, and other women’s issues? It’s just that they may have a “Well Woman Clinic” or something similar where you could book an appt.

You’re doing the right thing by having the itchiness and the rash checked out. The BCC helpline will be able to give you more advice.

Take care, and much love to you!
