Hi ladies,
I finished my radiotherapy last Monday. Apart from four very tiny blisters I had no problems. I used aqueous cream twice daily and continue to do so, however my breast is very itchy in places and looks like I have a heat rash with small raised lumps. The skin is not broken, but just wandered if there was anything more i could do.
Thanks

Hi Sunshine 75, I finished rads in April and towards the end I too had itchy skin which looked like a heat rash. I mentioned it to my radiographer who suggested I take one piriton tablet each day. This really helped, as did keeping my aqueous cream in the fridge, it made it sooo cooling. I carried on with the aqueous cream twice a day for a couple of months afterwards and I now use E45 Cream once a day. Best wishes Pat x
Hi Trisha_51,
Thank you so much for the advice, will go and get some piriton and continue slapping on the cream.

Hi Sunshine75, had what I called prickly heat rash towards end of rad treatment. I had been using aqueous throughout but switched to Aloe Vera 99% gel which I put just on the rash. It worked like magic! .
I did not use piriton as I drive a lot and it advises not to use if you do. Others on this site have used it like Pat though, with good results. It can make you sleepy but relief from the itch is important especially at night time.
Another tip is to put ice pack on you with a thin cloth like a t- towel or hankie tin between to protect the skin. I have had prickly heat before when on holiday in hot places and that works as it cools your skin down generally. Drink lots of fluids as well to keep hydrated especially as the weather is supposed to be getting really hot again. Also as Pat says keep whatever you put on you in the fridge for greater relief!! It should only last about a week max so hopefully by this time next week it will be better. Keep in the cool and avoid being in the heat for too long , best wishes, Katy.
I also have terrible itching, the radiotherapy nurse recommended an over the counter antihistamine tablet, I just bought Tesco own brand, and that seems to have helped. She said to expect the side effects to peak around 2 weeks after the last treatment so hopefully it’s not much longer now before things start to improve.
