Itchy

Just wondering what you lot might make of this, I keep thinking I’m just being paranoid:
Since my mammogram (1st one since mastectomy, chemo and rads) back in July my remaining nipple has been so itchy. It was fine before and I’ve checked that nothing else has changed ie soap etc. I am seeing my surgeon on the 23 Sept, should I mention it to him then or see if I can get in earlier as having reconstruction on the 29th… I havent even mentioned it to hubby as he’ll probably just say I’m being silly. Am I?

If it is enough to make you worry than it is worth mentioning if only to put your mind at rest. I would definately mention it to your consultant - changes in your breast are important particularly if they continue. They can do a test on the skin to check if all is OK, or an ultra sound etc. When i was diagnosed i had had no physical lumps or bumps except itchy dry skin on my nipple (nothing drastic just not usual for me) and a general lethargy ( I had put this down to loosing my Mum) - my GP had suggested I use E45 (four months earlier), and whilst they have never definately said that the nipple problem was linked to my BC I think its all a bit too conicidental. There is a condition called Paget’s disease which is noted on this site too. as with anything connected to your health there are always 100 things that it could be and 99% of them are OK but its always better to be sure. Hope all goes well with your Recon

I will mentioned it Fletchjet, thank you. I have used E45 and Aqueous cream but itching still. Now I know I’m not being silly paranoid lady"!

Appt went well, he is not concerned and suggests using a anti fungal cream for a short while. It’s not that itchy at the moment (typical eh). Thanks for your concern Helen
