So many ladies in a similar boat I’m not sure where to start or if I’m even cheeky to be bothering you all at such a time in your lives.
I found a lump its kind of submarine shaped but lumpy bumpy not smooth.I called in my GP’s and she found it with the first touch it’s so prominent and has referred me on to breast clinic.
My sister had a lump removed and radiotherapy last year shes quite young to she was 51,my cousin who is my age had her lump removed and chemotherapy last year too.Dad is now awaiting removal of a growth from his face.I myself had precancerous cells removed with laser treatment from my uterus in my twenties.I’m now 48 but have gone through the menopause as I had a hysterectomy in my early thirties.I also am immobile and use a wheelchair which I know heightens any effects from menopause especially early menopause which causes greater risks of a number of things.
With all this in mind I’m kind of expecting only one out come from the referral which I think is a wise thought as anything else will bring relief while if the expected is put to me it won’t be such a blow just before I have then to face the treatment given that I tire easily from my ongoing state anyway.
Could anyone who doesn’t mind sharing their own experiences with me please post them as an answer to give me a more varied and informed idea of things and to everyone everywhere the very best of wishes and tons of love life and laughter.

It certainly is a long wait! And, although at least some of us get the ‘wrong’ result at the end of it, the waiting does seem to be the worst part. Many of us on here have said that and it also is another (long) wait in between any tests that are done and getting those results. Hopefully you will be in the majority of the 9 in 10 that don’t have BC when a lump is discovered but you, and your GP, have done the right thing in getting a referral as soon as possible. This is also a good place to come and voice any fears as pretty much all of us have been in the same boat at some point and well remember the fears you are facing. The only advice I can give at this point, before anything is either confirmed or proven negative, is to not read too much information! There is a lot on the web and it can scare you so much when it may not even be relevant. Also TRY to get on as normally as possible - and that will be difficult but keeping busy will keep your mind off things. I hope you get your appointment soon and this then gets the ball rolling one way or the other but take one step at a time. Hopefully you will be back on here some time soon with some good news, fingers crossed.

I have just got my referral letter and yes its an awful wait. I dont know what else to say but good luck and hopefully we will be the lucky ones.
Im lucky that im really busy with 3 young boys and a full time job, and weve just moved house. Im that tired every night i have no trouble sleeping, so keeping busy really really does help I cant stress that enough. The minute you sit and think or lie awake you just worry like crazy!!
Anyway, sorry to rant on your post!! The people on this forum are fantastic and are all here for eachother, its been such a help to me already.
Keep posting, its good to get it out.

Thank you Nicky yes wise words I am kind of used to going with the flow with my other conditions so it shouldn’t be too hard not to search and read up too much.Hmmm ball rolling sounds good it’s far better when you know where you’re going next this part feels so non productive doesn’t it.It’s a struggle for me to keep busy being in the chair but I do do art work I’m thinking of ploughing myself into that as it does act like an escape.Hope all is going well for you and thank you for taking the time to help
Hi Max awwww you’re where I’m at it’s an uncomfy sit isn’t it.Ock you have little ones? mine are a boy n girl 21 and 18.Moving house is exciting and stressful at the same time but good that its all come together and you can get sleeping I suppose that has to be a bonus for you.My sleep pattern is messy anyway as I have lots of pain from other conditions (i’m a wheelchair user) so it’s all I do sit lol I do art though so I’m going to fill in the hours with that.Hey you rant away missus it’s good to know I’m not the only one doing it though at the same token I wish you didn’t have to go through it.I was only at the GPs mid week so It’s gonna be a while I suppose before I hear.Good luck Max and thank you

Well I have had discharge out of one breast for the last four years, on and off. The first time I was diagnosed with Duct Ectasia after a mammogram and scan. I recently visited my doctor with a blood stained discharge and was refered to my local hospital. Had my mammogram last week and have seen the consultant a few days ago. He felt a small lump he thinks is a cyst (mammogram was clear), and I am now waiting for an ultrasound to see exactly what that is. I am very sore around the area he felt my lump, so here I am, waiting and worried!
