Its going ahead

Hi All
Had planning session today and saw doc re my wound which is still being dressed by district nurse.I was worried that rads would not go ahead, but he has said it will as it 8 weeks after my op and leaving it later isn’t an option as it won’t be effective.
So just to be awkward I am having 3 boosters first next week and then 15 sessions leading up to 27th June and then the long awaited honeymoon on 30th June.
So things looking good so far,

Hope everyone is coping

Take Care

Great news as I am sure you just want to get it all done and over with. i had a very good experience of radiotherapy, everyone was very attentive and friendly and made sure everything was ok with me each day.

Good Luck and roll on that honeymoon

Glad to hear that your rads are not being delayed - you’re the 1st I’ve ever heard of having boosters at the start.

Bet you are marking the days off on your calendar for your long awaited honeymoon. You will be amazed at how quickly it comes round - I thought 6+ weeks of rads was going to take forever but it was over really quickly.

Hi Mary - So glad you can get started with your radiotherapy, and that you have your honeymoon to look forward to at the end of it. I’ve had 13 out of 30 so far, and no side effects from the radiotherapy yet (the pain, redness and swelling I had was nothing to do with the radiotherapy!). Good luck - let us know how you get on. Hi, Mary,

Glad everything is going to plan and it will all be over before the wonderful 30th June!! Have never heard of boosters before …something new for me to look up!

Is an 8 week period the norm between surgery and radiotherapy also how long after chemo did you have surgery? I know Tax didn`t work for you so we may be different.

I have my last A.C. next week I have tolerated it amazingly well but not sure how effective it`s been. How did they measure the tumour after A.C.?

So sorry for all the questions but so few people on here appear to have had adjuvant therapy.

Good luck next week I will be thinking of you,

Everyone says it`s a piece of cake after chemo and surgery!!

Take care,
Love,
Janx

Thanks for your kind words everyone;

Lilac they are doing my boosters first because of holiday and rads where planned to start on 9th, so next week is the only option.

I had op 4 weeks after chemo, doc said rads would not be effective if left later, so I take his word for that.
My tumour reduced radically on AC and was measured on ultrasound scan.
The boosters apparently only go onto scar area.

Will keep you informed of progress

Mary is correct about the boosters … I had 25 sessions of ‘normal’ rads where they targetted 4 different areas and then 4 boosters which were just to the tumour site (I think the boosters might also be a higher dose but not sure about that).

Good luck with the rads anyway mary - and more luck with the honeymoon, the best way to celebrate getting to the end of your rads.

Hi there
Wishing you all the best ,you will find the time goes really quickly.
I was told the boosters are at a higher dose and delivered into first 3cm of tissue…
