Hello all, I’ve found the last few days so much better, taste is still a little off, but much better than it was. Hang in there ladies, it will get better.
Claire, I found that on week two my mx area aches for a few days.
I went to a look good feel better course today which was fantastic. Met some nice ladies and had some fun with makeup. The goody bag I got was amazing! All the products are Lancôme, Estée Lauder, max factor, Clinique, Clarins and even a Chanel lipstick! It was really good to be around others having chemo and I learnt a few makeup tricks xx
Hey great news Claire, you will love the look good feel better. Sissylw - I was at a session same day The Christie Manchester, where were you? ?
Well as far as treatment I am doing great second T (paxclitaxel) today and all is fine again so far. However, I was pondering the difference between respective and negative. Hubby is away and girls being teenagers so I did what tou don’t do and googled it. I am triple negative and I didn’t like the answers I saw ?
Why do I think of questions after I have seen a professional who could give me the answer and my questions that then follow ?. Note to self, no more googling - write a note and call a professional. Oh well to be sure I have no time to dwell on it. I will have to go work tomorrow.
Hope everyone is doing well. Love Jo xx
Good luck with your second T today Jo - is paxifaxol the same as docetaxol? Or is it a weekly? It’s a horrible feeling when you’ve googled something and frightened yourself Definately save your questions for the oncologist not Google - hope you’re feeling ok about it now. Xx
Day 10 and no injections today so I’m hopi g it will be pain free! I’ve usually felt so much better earlier with FEC, so I’ve been getting pretty fed up! My temperature has been higher than usual, hovering between 37 and 37.4, so I’ve been constantly worrying that a trip to A&E was imminent which hasn’t helped! I’ve survived the aches and pains on just paracetamol in the afternoon and evenings so the cocodamol is untouched. I see this as an achievement! I hated the horrible filmy taste in my mouth with a passion!! I haven’t eaten so much and been having real trouble drinking enough water. The only thing I’ve enjoyed drinking is orange juice and tomato cuppa soups! Will be getting a load of that in for the next cycle!
Eyelashes are falling out daily and eyebrows very thin now. Making my eyes itch!
I have decided I hate T as much as FEC for different reasons. Hoping no5 will be easier to deal with mentally though, as I’ll recognise the side effects and know what to do!
How is everyone else doing?
Xxx
Hello all, pre chemo bloods today in readiness for round 4 on Monday. I haven’t had a phone call yet to say they’re not good, so fingers crossed that they’re all good and my liver readings have calmed down. Oncologist had reviewed my bloods etc from my overnight stay in hospital and hasn’t recommended a dose reduction. She’d put that the higher liver reading was surprising but as my u/s was clear she wasn’t overly concerned. The chemo nurse today seems to think it’s all related to the docetaxel and it was my liver working hard to get rid of chemicals and too drink more fluids next time. My eyes are now watering lots, eyelashes and brows thinning, apparently the watering eyes are a symptom of the T. My period arrived as well a couple of days ago, was hoping that would have stopped for a while!
Johg, my season was at QEQM in Margate, had a fab time, I’m trying to keep up with my new skincare regime!
Love to everyone else, hopefully everyone is enjoying their good weeks! Xx
Cycle 5 for me tomorrow. I’ve had a busy day cleaning, washing and food shopping in preparation!!! I am so hoping that I’m not bad with constipation this time. I’ve started with the dioctyl last night and having movicol now. I think I’ll take senokot tomorrow night. Does anyone have any tips on staying regular??!!!
Kim- I’m on just docetaxol too.
My eyelashes and eyebrows are thinning out lots. My hands are so dry and skin is coming off. My mouth is very dry as soon as I lie down. I still have a crack at the side of my mouth from last cycle!!
The joys!!!
I hope everyone is as well as expected.
Debbie xx
I’m going away next weekend to Manchester (about 100 miles from here) for 2 nights with the family, we’re going to see Muse at the MEN arena. Fortunately it’s the best weekend for me to be away but I’m hoping I’m not next to someone with an infectious bug at the gig!! The following cycle, we have tickets booked to see Mama Mia in Bristol (similar distance away - different direction!) on 23 April so that will be the equivalent of this coming weekend. Was supposed to be travelling down on the day in a mini bus with friends, but we (my husband) decided that we’d go the night before by car and stay 2 nights instead of the one. If the next cycle goes the same as this one then I should be feeling normal and well for that too, but there’s always that stress isn’t there!
My taste is coming back, but I’m still not enjoying food like I have been and I have a split in the side of my mouth too - applying sudocream obviously!!
Haha, Kim you’re right, in getting confused! I have cycle 5 on Monday! I also have tickets for Muse though at the O2 arena, my husband is now taking a friend though as it’ll be on day 9 for me ?
Claire, my taste is now okay, still hate plain water though! Xx
Morning ladies hope you don’t mind me crashing your Jan forum. I am in March one. Had my 3rd FEC yesterday, I was told my next 3 is something called Taxotere, it was bad enough fearing side effects from the FEC now worrying about the next load. Have any of you ladies had this one yet, any advice welcome.
I was was given a box of steroids to take a day before, on the day, and day after ???. When read the side effects from the new chemo drug I want to run away. ???.
Hi sue, the T is more about aches and pains and less about sickness and nausea. I made sure I spent a couple of days in bed when the aches are worst. It was manageable with paracetamol, feels like flu pains. My mouth also felt horrid, and had no taste for a few days, but made sure I brushed teeth and swilled with mouthwash regularly. After my first T I started to feel better from day 10 onwards xx
Just had a call from my Bcn, my gene test results are back. I’m positive for brca/2 which means I’ll be having another mx at some point and also the ovaries out. Not really sure how to feel about it all. When I had the original mx I’d asked if both could just be taken off at the same time, would’ve been easier in hindsight! Xx
Sissy - really sorry to hear your news too, that’s a real bugger I’m sure more surgery isn’t what you would have wanted and I’m guessing it will take you a little while to get used to it all again.
We’re all here for you, I’m going to be hanging around on here to support you through it!
So sorry to hear your news Sissy, I’m sure it is going to take a while to get your head round. Such a shame that both couldn’t have been removed at the same time to save you extra surgery. Sending you big hugs and like Kim says we’ll be sticking around to help you through it.
Debbie xx
Well that is the 5th cycle done, 1 to go!! I’m just praying that I can tackle the constipation and oral thrush this time and all might be more manageable!

Thanks all, I’m not really bothered about how another mx will look, it’s more the thought of another two operations. I know it’s a bit vain but I’ve hated being lopsided since my mx and it’ll be nice to be able to have smaller prosthetics as I’m currently a gg cup and finding post op bras and swimwear has been a pain and expensive. And at least if I the other breast off I won’t be constantly worrying about finding more lumps in it.
My Bcn initially mentioned having the mx before rads, but I don’t want that as i don’t want to delay that element of my treatment. Also, we have a holiday booked to Spain for the end of July to celebrate my dads 60th birthday and then another holiday booked for end of November. Bcn has suggested having it done in between then. Then I’d have to have ovaries out after Christmas I suppose. Or I could just do nothing and have mammograms and mri’s and wait ti see whether I get bc in my remaining breast.
I feel a bit fed up as I was looking forward to getting rads done by the middle of June and then being all done and dusted xx
Took my steroids earlier today at 6.30am and 11.45am. Am still awake, hoping for a comfy chair for chemo 5 later today, three weeks until last chemo, fingers crossed! Xx
