Morning all, had two big ‘discussions’ with the husband yesterday with housework and how I feel that he hasn’t been helping enough with it. I’m fed up with asking for things to be done, being told that he’ll do them later and when later comes nothing happens! I was so annoyed that I spent the night in the spare room, though I did get a very good nights sleep!
Cassy, great to hear from you, Fiona well done for getting number 5 done. Ive got the bobbi brown tinted eyebrow wax stuff which I usually apply over an eyebrow pencil. I worry about rubbing them off though throughout the day!
Ellie, I need to visit that champagne bar, went to the harbour arm last year and had a lovely time there. It’s our 3rd wedding anniversary beginning of July so we’re going to go to rocksalt to celebrate that and the end of the active treatment.
I hope everyone else is okay. I’ll be doing the housework and getting the washing up to date in readiness for round 6 on Monday! Xx
Hi all not been on here for a while . Chemo is the pits at times my emotions are everywhere and this is so hard days like I can’t describe. I have had 4 a/c and was hard but on Wednesday had my 1st of 4 taxotare or decetoxcal well I was told it was a harsh one and side effects different well what can I say I feel in bits the pain my body is in is horrible has anyone else suffered like this and got any suggestions as to how they got thru it? Anything as its now me not being able to be around anyone I don’t know if I can take this anymore!
Oh guys it’s **bleep**e I know! Popping on from December thread… I never thought it would end and get better!! But it does! Promise!
The first T I had I was in bits too! Warned it would be hard and it was! Felt like I’d been hit by a bus! Please speak to your onc nurse or dr re the SE you’re having!! I did and was given extended and reducing dose over week of steroids and they really helped with the joint and bone pain. The emotional side though was tough to deal with.
I’m 3 week post 6/6 cycles and thank god finished! But still have couple of niggly SE… It’s doable guys! Keep going! ?
Awaiting apt for CT scan to mark up fir rads starting mid May. Sending lots of gentle supportive hugs xxx Tina
Hi ladies I am in Feb forum, have been reading about your se with T. I had my first one this Thursday and I must say I feel so ill. I find it worse then the FEC. I am laying on the settee can’t do anything pains in my bones. Feel sick. palpartaions . And I also have this ear throbbing had it since I started chemo. So can’t get much sleep. Also I am so fed up. This I think is due to coming down from the steroids as you seem to have to have a lot more with this T
Hi daisy, sorry you’re finding your first T tough. I think it is harder than FEC as the SE’s are quite different. I’ve had two now and found that the pains started from day 4 and lasted until around day 7-8. Rest when your body tells you to, I used hot wheat bags quite a lot, which were great. Around day 11 you should start to feel more normal. Hang in there, you will get through it and start to feel better soon.
I’ve started my last lot of steroids today, it would be nice to try and have more than a couple of hours sleep tonight, however I’m not feeling overly hopeful! Fingers crossed that by this time tomorrow it’ll all be done.
I’ve just come back from a lovely weekend in Bristol, went to see Mama Mia at the theatre with 2 friends from work and my daughter who lives there. I really didn’t want to come home to reality!
I think I’m the only one who prefers T to FEC, but I think it’s because I’m so much better at dealing with pain than I am with nausia. Not saying I’m looking forward to going through it again in a week’s time mind!!
Anyone else have streaming eyes?! As soon as I go outside I have tears dripping off my face - I look like I’m crying continually and have to wipe them, leaving them really sore! It’s driving me mad!
Sending you all loads of love, we ARE getting to the end of this chemotherapy nightmare!!
Kim, I got some Hylo Forte drops from my doctors and my eyes have been much better. My noes runs constantly too when I’m out!
Daisy, heat pads/hot water bottle is good for aches, I’m lying with one round my neck at the minute!! Ibuprofen better than paracetamol.
Sissy, good luck for tomorrow.
My side effects are just kicking in now!!

Thanks everyone, hoping to get a few hours sleep tonight, though the steroids always make it tricky! Earlier start than normal, have to drop my car at the garage for its service and mot, then appointment is at 11.15. Will have to wake at 7.30 to take first lot of steroids, not sure when to take second lot, chemo is usually later so id normally have steroids all done before. Nails are all painted though in readiness! Xx
Yep! That was me! Fortunately the fringe of my wig covers my eyebrows, so I’ve given up for now, just concentrating on my eyes which I do a great job of but lasts 2 mins when I go outside and they water!! That then washes off the foundation that’s been covering up the 2 red circles in my cheeks that give me a clown like appearance! Such a good look ?
Xxx
Hi all just a quick one is it normal to get called in for a electrocardiogram when on chemo, I had one at the begining now got to have another one in 2 weeks.
Hello all, last chemo done and dusted, picc line successfully removed as well! Just need to get through the next 10 days of SEs. I have a trip to The Ritz for afternoon tea and then a stay in London to look forward to on 12th may, all arranged for by the Willow Foundation, then back to work on 16th. I hope you’re all ok, another few weeks and we’ll all be in the same place! Xx
Hi Ellie, yes it had the orange hook thing that went under the skin. One of the sister’s took it out. First of all she unclipped the tube and gently pulled it out, that bit wasn’t sore, it just felt a bit odd. Then she cut the orange thing in half as there are two metal prongs. The first half pulled out easily, the second half had to be twisted round a bit and took half a minute or so to work free, it didn’t really hurt, it was more uncomfortable than anything. No local anaesthetic was used. They just did it whilst I was sat there in the chair. Xx
Well done Sissy, congratulations on getting to the finishing line. Hope side effects are ok for you, it’s nice to have something lovely to look forward to.
Take care
