January 2025 chemo starters

I’m due to start paclitaxel on Wednesday! I’m not looking forward to the 3-hour infusions.

I’m still getting my leg ulcer dressed twice weekly- its a long healing process exacerbated by having chemo.

Chemo brain yesterday! Put pertol in my diesel car…2 hours, £180 later and a full tank of fuel, in addition to the £40 of pertol I had unknowingly put in, and all was fine. So upset at myself until my hubby reminded me I should have been at home resting and not working…ooops. Anyway PICC line today ( :poop:), MRI Monday to see if I need EC number 4 or if I move straight to Doxetaxil. Any idea of side effects of Docetaxil? Been told isnt just as harsh as the EC.
@dragonfly2 @indigo2 @jnra sounds like you 3 are almost running in parallel. Fingers crossed for good bloods and you all start the paclitaxel together

Oh no @fimac1 nightmare but glad it’s sorted. Hopefully your next chemo is good. Surely nothing can be as bad as EC

@dragonfly2 tell me about it! I’ll be cold capping too but managed to get the oncologist to prescribe me some lorazepam as I have ptsd and struggled last time. Most people say the side effects are much better so fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:t4:

@indigo2 I hear you but we’re at the half way mark, just 4 more to go :raised_hands:t4:

@fimac1 you wont be the first or last person to do that. Just concentrate on your breathing while they are doing the picc line xx

I had Paclitaxel. It can cause lots of aches and pains, fatigue, as well as upset stomach :poop: so make sure your team give you Imodium/loperamide. At my clinic they said I would be prescribed in my goody bag of drugs to take home and to take as soon as it happens, but it wasn’t given to me so after a call to helpline, my husband had to pop to supermarket at 9pm to buy some. The following week they were very apologetic that it had been missed.

During chemo having :poop: can cause dehydration and other problems making you feel more poorly, so the medication is a must.

Thinking of you all

Chemo is paused again!!! I have another leg ulcer forming, swabs taken, and it looks like I’ll need another course of antibiotics. I’m so fed up with it all now. Hopefully, they will come up with a plan when I’m discussed at tomorrow’s meeting x

So sorry @dragonfly2. I hope they find a solution.

I have been in hospital since Sunday with neutropenic sepsis. My temperature spiked so I was admitted after phoning triage and they are saying it is a chest infection. I have been treated really well, IV antibiotics and all checks within an hour of arrival and kept in a side room the whole time. I had to have extra filgrastim but my neutrophils are now good. Hoping they let me out tomorrow.

I suspect my next chemo due on Friday is going to be delayed by a week. Annoying but I understand why.

Glad you got seen quickly and that you’re on the mend. Pauses in treatment are so frustrating even whe we know its for the best xx

@heya_25 @dragonfly2 so sorry to hear things aren’t going as smoothly as they could for you both.
I’m hoping you’re both back on the treatment train as soon as possible xxx

I am still in hospital. My temperature keeps spiking so they won’t let me go. Although they said a possible chest infection I haven’t really got any symptoms so they’re not really sure what’s going on. Still it’s better to be here than worrying at home.
