I love the honey in hot water and I think it’s kept these colds at bay that are going around , I’m having flu jab on Friday too so perhaps that will help
Hickman line being put in tomorrow , I’m quite nervous about it as I’ll be awake , just something else to tick off list , had never had any surgery before my two WLE ‘s ,
Big pants on x
Hickman all in. Sitting crying and feeling sorry for myself , no pain at all , just a weird tugging feeling , cup of coffee and I’m good to go x
Got Line care tomorrow to show me how to care for it xx
Karen
Well done Fec , I think getting the first one over is probably gonna be the hardest , have they said any thing about a picc or a Hickman line because of your veins ? Not fair for you to have the pains every time , having the chemo is bad enough xx
And as for crying I cried like a baby today and do you know what I thin k we deserve a good cry xxxx
Well done Fec…1 down! I’m up tomorrow x
Good luck tomorrow RosieH. I had my first one today and I’m so glad to report that it wasn’t nowhere near as bad as I’d conjured up in my mind! I feel great at the moment but fully expect some side effects to kick in pretty soon. So far I’ve managed to drink 3 litres of water today and been on the loo loads which is good as I’m now starting to get rid of the drugs! I’ve been given mountains of anti sickness drugs which is music to my ears as I am terrible at being sick. The only down side is I feel permanently starving as they are a steroid! I had docetaxel today of which I am now getting 4 sessions of followed by 4 FEC.
FEC - definitely ask for a line or port - you can’t keep going through that. I had a port fitted on Monday and it took them five attempts to cannulate me to enable them to sedate me. The pain was horrible and it took ages of sitting with my hands in hot water. As mentioned above I had my first treatment today through the port and what an absolute breeze! They took my bloods through the port and then gave me the chemo - the whole first process took just over 3 hours and was completey painless. Hope it happens for you xxx
Morning dealdoh
Hope you managed to get some rest. My wound was really tender too and it turned out I was allergic to the dressing and had blisters starting to form. They still went ahead with the chemo and the stitch in my neck has to come out on Monday. The remaining 7 around the actual port are to be taken out at my next chemo session on the 1st February.
I had a fairly good night waking on and off and took another anti sickness. Have woke this morning with a slight fuzzy headache but nothing to serious at all. Will be getting back into the fluids straight away to keep trying to flush it all through me. Going to walk my little boy to school for a bit of exercise then chill out.
I hope today goes well for you and you come away feeling a lot more relaxed ?. Please let me know later how you get on. We can kick the butt of this - strong ? women xxx ?
Hi FEC
What anti sickness meds have they given you? I have had some that I had to take a day before the chemo started, the day of the chemo and this morning as well as Emend orally before the chemo started then Introveneosuly and sent home with one for today and one for tomorrow then been sent home with domperidone for 5 days or as long as I feel I need them. So far so good on the sickness front although I have had a few tummy cramps. I’m trying to eat light small meals but also drinking loads of water (2 litres of I can) tonflush it through. Hope you soon feel better - nothing worse xxx ?
Glad your all doing ok ! Fec I hope your sickness calms down ,
After my breakdown yesterday I went to chemo unit to get line flushed , first time and I was a bit anxious but the staff were lovely and answered loads of questions for me so put my mind at rest x
Hickman was bleeding last night but I rang and they said it was normal , loads better today
Got my appt for next week to get Wendy wig !
Had my Hickman line in yesterday. Bit sore today but not too bad. All set for chemo on Monday. Just want to get on with it now.
Got some hats and scarves through but gonna cold cap too and see how it goes.
Well done Deldoah the battle has commenced. Glad it all went well let’s hope you sail through the next week. If not don’t worry it won’t last x
I had filgrastim injections and they were very easy to give.
You’ve not spoiled it with chocolate cake / that’s a well deserved treat x
Hi FEC
If the drugs they have given you aren’t working then yes definitely request it and the domperidone which reminds me of champagne!!! So far they have worked for me although I know it’s still early days! I’ve felt a bit under the weather today with a fuzzy head, extreme tiredness and feeling like I’m jet lagged. I also woke up with a bright red face which apparently is a side effect of the steroids! I looked like I’d been on holiday and forgot my sun cream!
Hope your feeling better this evening xxx
Oh no ! Can i not have a glass of wine !!!
I can cope with that I thought you meant the whole 18 weeks , swoon
Is everyone on 6 cycles over 18 weeks. I’m being given 8 cycles over 34 weeks. I’ve 1 lymph node involved and there’s evidence of spread within the one breast so I’m assuming that’s why. Must ask.
Dealdoh I was a nurse once upon a time too.
I thought the injections were giving me headaches but the last 3 I didn’t get a headache so ?
What’s everyone’s hickmans like? I must if turned on to side in night and I’ve dressing had moved and the stitches on the exit side were exposed , so I’ve just wanged another dressing over it ,no bleeding but was worried about the air getting to them , it looks ok so may ring Monday morning and tell them as I’m not due back till Friday for a flush
Hi ladies
First T down and feeling ok. Not like I want to go dancing ok but not horrific. Strange taste in my mouth and very red cheeks!! Found out yesterday all organs and bones are clear but my Sentinal nodes were positive for cancer. Apparently no change in treatment but when I have surgery it will be a radical!
However back to Chemo and one day at a time it felt awesome to get started on the treatment…hope all you other ladies are doing ok? Xxx
RosieH that’s fab news!
I feel exactly the same. The bright red face and neck are apparently a side effect of the steroids - I called the oncology unit yesterday to double check. I feel almost flu like today - my hips and lower legs ache! I’ve got a slightly fuzzy head too but once I get some fluids inside me that seems to lift they feeling . I also woke up in the night with a horrific taste in my mouth and a sore tongue ?. I think I’m a day ahead of you so will keep you up to date. Hope you have a good day - I’m going to try and take my little boy to the park for an hour - fingers crossed!!! Hugs ?
Crikey Fec…bless you. Only day two over here.
Tracey I feel for you Mummies so much. Mine are grown although I’m only 46 and it’s hard to watch their pain.
To be looking after babies must be so so…I don’t know the word but my thoughts are with you xxx
FEC in hell you are really suffering bless you. Sounds absolutely awful. Have you called to see if they can give you any alternative anti sickness meds? Was that the first docetaxel for you?
RosieH - yes I managed to get to the park for an hour with my sister and her children. Was lovely for my little one. Yes it’s hard work with youngsters but it also gives you something to focus on. I’m staying with my parents at the moment as my hubby works abroad and isn’t due home until next Thursday. They are absolutely fab but it breaks my heart ? that they are watching me go thorough this. I’m also 45 and so used to being active and independent so this has really clipped my wings.
Aliand - yes I want to try and get out walking as much as I can just to keep me active and give me a focus. Fingers crossed I can continue to do so.
Love to you all ladies xx ??
Hi Dealdoh…yes that’s what they’ve said which is a bit of a bummer but not the end of the world!!
im guessing having it post Chemo means at least I can’t get cellulitis when my immune system bows out.
Well done Tracey on the trip out…I’m with you dealdoh on the feeling a bit fraudy especially reading Fec’s reattion. I’m wondering if it’s because I’ve started with the T and not the FEC.
Fec you’ve got a baby too bless you, bloody disease doesn’t discriminate does it…hopefully by Monday you may have settled a bit.
I just popped out to do a few bits but unfortunately my tummy is a bit rumbley shall we say which is resulting in a certain aroma…I may not feel too bad but I’m not entirely sure the same could be said for anyone in the M&S queue behind me!!! Xx
