Job done or half done

Firstly thanks to everyone for their words of support and encouragment over the last couple of days.

I now have a number 3 thanks to my friend (also a hairdresser) she even let the kids do a bit to try and make them feel included. Hubbie tried but he was hopeless.

Don’t know how long this will last but it felt like a halfway point between watching it fall out in clumps and going completely bald, it will give me a chance to get used to it before it all goes.

Surprisingly i didn’t cry i think all my tears over my hair had been shed by this point and having the kids be part of it helped. My youngest has asked me to either wear my wig or a hat when i pick her up from school today, i will do this for her but it doesnt look that bad. I will need to be better at putting on my face though the shaved head with no make up is not a good look.

I feel better now its done and my head is not as sore. Thoughts to all of you who are going through this. I have decided to view it as another step in my fight. 2nd chemo next wedensday and i can then say i am a third way through, sounds good when i say it that way.

Take care

Love

Hi Lesley

Your comments brought me to tears - how very brave of you. I am a bit behind you - mastectomy and recon. last week of September - not sure if my chemo will be the kind that will make me loose my hair but reading your stories just makes it all that easier to deal with.

Good luck with the rest of your treatment.

Hi Lesley,

good on 'ya, its a brave step you have taken but a very positive one! I did exactly the same, got mine shaved off after my first chemo session. My lovely boyfriend did it for me, bless him! I found that after that I started to wear much more make-up than ever before!!! The girls at my local Clinique counter are loving me these days, as since I’ve not been able to spend a fortune on my hair like I normally would I’ve been over compensating by spending fortunes on skin care products and make-up! Whatever makes us feel better has gotta be a good thing!

Shaving it off will defo give you a chance to get used to it before it does all go. I never regretted it and I’m sure you won’t! How lovely to get your children involved and I hope the school run goes well later,

Take care,

Kelly
