Juice Plus

Hi All -

I dont want to open a can of worms…but anyone know / using Juice Plus to boost their friut / veg intake. I know the real thing is best…but chemo and a healthy diet do not always go hand in hand and I want to boost my levels as much as possible! I am taking a number of vitamins and supplements and know this is helping me cope with chemo and control the tumours (all lung mets shrinking or gone on last scan).
I will talk to ONC before changing anything - but just wondered others experience??

Juice Plus is not man made, it is made fron the fruits and veg - that has got to be better than synthetic?

isnt juice plus the one that has been investigated so much because the marketing is a scam, a bit like pyramid selling??

I suppose just because the business model is dadgy it does not neceserily cast doubt on the product. But I would be wary.

Hi Sadie
I’ve just “Wikipdiaied” Juice Plus and there’s lots of info about it - as OaL says the marketing has been suspect but do read the Wiki as it’s very interesting info about the Juice

wow this bit from wikipedea is a bit scary

Adverse effects

Adverse effects of Juice Plus have been mentioned in four studies,[13][33][57][58] none of which was randomized, blinded, or placebo-controlled. No monitoring of adverse effects was reported in other published Juice Plus studies.[12][30][31][32][34][35][36][41][42] Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center noted[6] that in one study,[33] some subjects who took Orchard Blend and Garden Blend developed a hive-like rash. Another study in 2000 reported adverse effects (upper-respiratory tract, urinary, and musculoskeletal) in roughly a third of the participants who took the products for 7 days. These events resolved spontaneously and were deemed unlikely to have derived from use of Juice Plus.[13] In a third study from 2007, some subjects withdrew due to gastrointestinal distress possibly caused by the Juice Plus regimen (a combination of Orchard Blend, Garden Blend, and Vineyard Blend).[57] Lastly, a medical case report was published in which Juice Plus was identified as the probable cause of liver toxicity (hepatic inflammation) in a 51-year old female patient with endometrial cancer. The liver injury was reversed upon discontinuation of Juice Plus.[58]

actually, if you want i good tonic I swear by floradix floravital. Its all from flowers and fruit and is a good source of iron and vitamins. I find it does not make me constipated like other iron tonics.

Amazing OaL - iron has the opposite effect on me… shows how different we all are!!

Hi - I was told to avoid anything with extra iron in it as it will stimulate new blood vessel growth. Its very complicated!!!
