My cat decides to scratch me yesterday so frantically keeping it clean and watch it for signs of infection hope it will be OK!

Hi everyone, I am due to have 2nd dose of FEC chemo tomorrow and wondered if anyone noticed more side effects with each dose or if it was more or less the same. Was at hospital for blood tests today and the nurse mentioned the side effects could intensify as treatment goes on.
First one has not been too bad a bit of a fuzzy head the first few days with hot flushes and night sweats then about 3 or 4 low energy days when I had to rest most of the days just watching stuff on tv. The worst thing for me was really sore gums and my jaw felt very stiff although I could still eat thank goodness. Feeling so much better this past week.
Hi mishy. I know how you feel. I’ve just left hospital with my 3rd and final fec under my belt. Brilliant. ???
Calling into b and q for more paint brushes on the way home. I’m feeling optimistic. ?
Sandy, for me the only difference in side effects as the treatment has gone on has been feeling like I need a cat nap after lunch most days. Apart from that, the 2nd was the same as the 1st and I’m hoping this 3rd one will be the same. ???
That’s good to hear - will just take it easy and rest when needed then - you will be glad to be done with chemo and finish your decorating - best wishes x
My second was same as first apart from no bleeding gums! This time I agree with feel the fear feeling more tired needing little naps!

Morning mishy. Hope you’re doing well. Yes, fec has been kind to me. I think I’d expected it to be so bad that the se’s I do have are nothing compared to what I feared so I just accept them. Feel extremely lucky I’ve had no need for any unexpected hospital visits. My eyebrows and lashes have also thinned. Glad I had the blading done.
Apart from looking very tanned today, I’m great. Painting my daughter’s bedroom. I’ll expect the off my head crash by Friday. ? A few glasses of wine will take the edge of that. It’s worked for me so far.
Did you order a wig or are you still going with the kylie look?
My usual nurse was on holiday yesterday and not sure I got a very good fit with my cold cap. It’s making me slightly nervous, but I’m prepared if I lose any. Xx

I hope you’re doing well. It’s so admirable that your bc nurse is going to brave a shave. I can absolutely say there’s no way I’d do that unless I had to.
I must be doing okay this round as I got my meds bag out last night and realised I hadn’t even taken my two days worth of emend. My only real complaint is the constipation. It feels like I’ve got the devils finger up my bum. ?
I’m hoping your nurse is right about T. Every now and again the niggling nerves of the unknown are creeping up. My chemo nurse told me most people say T is worse than fec.
Well I’m going to be busy all weekend decorating and I’m off to lovely Keswick next week, so fear of the unknown will just have to go on the back burner for a while. ?
My nurse says Fec is more sicky, T is more achy and fluey. So I guess it’s pot luck! Have a great time in Keswick, feelthefear, it’s such a beautiful part of the world there will be no room for the dreaded unknown!

My period has decided to make an appearance, thanks for that just before next fec!! I haven’t had one since before I started the treatment so wasn’t sure if I was getting have one!
The upside of fec is it has got rid of my psoriasis!! Every cloud!! Heres to hoping the dreaded T isn’t too bad, feel the fear enjoy Keswick! Tatyana your BC nurse sounds lovely she’s brave doing that I hated losing my hair what a lovely thing to do.

My hair is still in tact, so hoping no shed next week then I’ll hopefully be home and dry.
I started a period on the day of my second fec. Period cramp is definitely not what you need on top of chemo. It was awful.
My skin is actually better on chemo. It was very oily before and prone to spots. Not a spot in sight these days. ?

So far so good with the 2nd round of FEC - nurse at the hospital gave me antibiotic mouthwash to take to help with the sore mouth and gums I had last time - I usually feel fine for the first 5 days while I have all my meds then I get 3 or 4 days of low energy and dizzyness if I try and do too much. I am not trying the cold cap so my hair is starting to shed so badly this week - came out the shower this morning and there was more on the floor and my comb than on my head - felt like it anyway - going to get it cropped this weekend as it is making such a mess everwhere as it falls out.
I have not had an operation yet as the surgeon wants to shrink my lump first to try and remove less tissue. I will have 4 rounds of FEC followed by 4 rounds of Docetaxel. Then an op then radiotherapy so long haul.
My work have been very understanding and they have provided me with a laptop so I can work from home when I can and I’ve managed a few days so far. It helps me feel less disconnected as I will be off for so long don’t really want to face an hour long bus journey each way and be in an open plan office with 200+ staff especially during cold and flu season.

Morn ladies hope you are all well anyone have trouble giving blood on test before chemo went yesterday morning to gp couldn’t get any so had to go back later on drank loads and still 4 attempts nothing she had to take from my forearm I have noticed that this happens alot to me and worrying I’m going to have to end up with a picc line really don’t want one of those! I know this sounds daft but could being on my period have lowered my blood pressure!!!
It doesn’t know what the weather wants to do today I’m hoping to get a couple of nice days in garden before round 3 on Monday,
Sandy I cold capped first time and lost majority of hair within two weeks of having it! Had to shave rest off now it’s just like I have bits of fluff in places where it’s not fell from yet but practically totally bald! Shaving was the best thing mentally for me i could have done I found losing hair like that really distressing you don’t notice it as much if you have shaved honestly, still haven’t got my wig yet! But definitely want one just had too much going on atm with my dad and stuff x
Daughter came round last night she’s getting huge now can’t believe the baby will be here in 7 weeks I can’t wait just hope she goes into labour when I’m not in week 1 of my chemo so I can be at birth xxx

Mishy I think the chemo can have a really bad effect on your veins. A family friend had BC last year and said it once took them 10 attempts to find a vein for chemo. My veins are awful anyway so I opted to have a hickman line put in after my first session. It’s not the nicest procedure in the world but it’s made the last 6 chemo sessions so much easier.
FeelTheFear the skin on my face has been the same! No spots and it feels quite smooth. The lack of periods might be helping though as I don’t get the monthly oil slick on my T-zone before I’m due on.
Been keeping busy in-between treatments painting and cleaning my flat. Submitted my mortgage application to buy the place a few weeks ago and got the valuation on Tuesday. Planning the renovations for when the sale goes through is keeping me busy at the moment. I’m dying to rip out the original 70’s avocado bathroom and black ash MDF kitchen. I suppose one plus point of all of this I have lots of free time so do it up while I’m off work!

My skin has been good too! I have a nice glow which is very surprising but good! Writing shopping list so we can go in morning and stock up on food I can actually eat this time! Sent Oh last time a drink there was nothing I could eat!!!
Feeling very upbeat and positive about tomorrows chemo going to be at half way line so it’s getting closer to finishing line not long now eh girls xx

Lol Mishy, how the word drink just popped in! I managed about a quarter of a small glass of red wine yesterday, quite enjoyed it, but it took its revenge with sore mouth and reflux. That’ll teach me!
Feeling quite human now, it’s a lovely morning and we’re meeting the grandson and his parents for lunch. He’s five, so a couple of hours of his company is lovely ?.
I was a bit slower bouncing back from my third fec, but I tried not to beat myself up about it, I guess you just have to go with the flow. And that’s me done with the fec! Another 10 days of hopefully feeling ok, then it’s the T, so we’ll see. I suppose all the patterns I’ve learned from the fec will be replaced by something completely different!

Bet you won’t do that again, I have been plagued with reflux since starting but taking rinitatine off doc so got it under control, the chemo can sometimes irritate the lining of the stomach my doc said, I literally can’t wait till I can eat like I used too! Fec number 3 today thank God! Hopefully the SE won’t get me too much! Going shopping first, need a list to take to the hospital of things I need to ask for I came home with nothing the last time! No mouth wash nothing! Just the injections!!!
Don’t know about any of you but my memory is terrible atm, wondering if that’s another SE!!! Hope you had a good day with the grandson a drink family it was nice yesterday x
