I too had a really sore mouth, starting with tingly tongue & thought it was a SE, but when I looked in mirror my tongue was covered with what looked like white dust, which turned out to be thrush. Prescription for Nystatin solved problem after about 4/5 days, although as you all say nothing tastes right, but just two more to go.
Well ladies I got an infection in my line on day 8 after EC and spent last night in the hospital. My white blood cell count is pitiful so I’m stuck here till it goes back up. At least I have my own ensuite room due to the infection risk!
Hope everyone is doing okay today and SE’s aren’t causing too many problems x
Hi Missaconitum, poor you, I’m doing a blood dance to get your white cells back up, I hope you soon recover.
Yes, T is full of charming surprises. Furry yucky mouth, luckily no actual thrush in my case, but aches and pains, a dose of diarrhoea, a night in hospital with a suspected infection, a week of antibiotics, and hands like a bad case of sunburn. What next?!. I’m in week 3 now and actually feeling quite good, so hang on in there folks, bit does get better! Honest!
Day 8 of the dreaded T! Got the start of a head cold! Temp is fine rang for advice just been told to check temp every 4 hours not to take paracetamol ask it can mask a high temp keep eating and drinking etc if feel unwell to ring helpline I hope I don’t end up having to go in dad’s funeral is on Wed, it’s this time of year when stupid colds and bugs flying about not going to risk going to supermarket or anything this week just in case x mouth is still not too bad putting it down to the honey I think in my milk x or just luck x the aches are awful though through the night miss hope you are feeling better and out of hospital soon in the best place really they can look after you x
Daffodils
I read that M&S lemon and ginger soda water is good. I drank bitter lemon which helped and next time I’m going to try Bicarbonate of soda with fresh lemon in water.xx
Morning Michelle. I’ll second what tatyana says, it might just be an SE as I feel exactly the same. Runny nose and eyes. Phlegm as well. I feel fine though and temp is normal so fingers crossed it passes without any drama.
I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow.
Hope everyone else is doing well today. X
Hi Annie,
I was using Clarityn anyway as it was the hay fever season, so I just carried on. No joint/bone pains at all on Fec, but a few neck/shoulder aches after my first T. Next T on Fri, so I’m carrying on with the Clarityn - it may be helping, it certainly isn’t doing any harm!
My ultrasound yesterday showed the lump had shrunk slightly,b great news because the onc had been afraid it might even be growing. I’m not having that!!
It’s great to hear your lump has shrunk tatyana. I bet you’re relieved.
I can’t believe I’ve got my period again today. One week early and during my best week. ?
The one side effect of chemo that I was quite looking forward to was my periods stopping. Cramp is the last thing I fancy having this week.
At least it sort of explains why I’ve just ate a whole sharing pack of peanut m and ms. ?
Poor you, treehouse, ir’s adding insult to injury, isn’t it! I understand the m&m thing, I used to get cravings for dark chocolate. can’t stand the stuff at the moment, thanks to chemo!
Haha, yes I’ve noticed tree house on the may starters.
I’ve moved onto a family pack of fruit gums now. They’ll have to increase my chemo dose to keep up with my weight If I continue like this. X
Well ladies managed to get to dad’s funeral it was a lovely service everything went really well but afterwards felt really hot took temp it was 83.5 rang hospital and told me to come in bloods showed my immune system was zero and raised infection markers so overnight stay anti biotics given Iv what a way to end the day at first I thought my temp kept spiking be at of my emotions being given all up and down but at least I’m in best place x
Thanks Annie re putting my manuka in hot milk! I will definitely just take it in mouth thru hot milk later x
I’m pleased the funeral went well Michelle.
What a carry on though that your immune system would take a battering yesterday of all days. Here’s hoping you recover quickly and they allow you to go home soon. Xxx
After four sleepless nights I’m home from the hospital. Neutropenic sepsis is not fun ladies! Ended up needing a blood transfusion as my blood counts were worryingly low. That shook me a little. Fortunately the infection was only in the entrance wound rather than inside the actual line so it should hopefully be able to stay in.
I hope everything went as well as it could yesterday Mishy x
That sounds awful and frightening miss a. I hope your next EC isn’t as bad. My first fec was probably worse than the other two thinking back. I bet you’re relieved to be out of hospital.
I’ve got an oncology app tomorrow and bloods. Hoping I’m good to go for T two. Nervous after last sessions drama, but can’t wait to get it over with.
We’re nearing the end ladies.
Mishy, glad the funeral went well, but so sorry you had such a ghastly end to a difficult day. Hope you are feeling better now.
Feelthefear, I have T number 2 tomorrow, fingers crossed that my bloods are ok. Good luck with yours. The one after this will be the last. How good does that sound!
Hi tatyana.
Good luck with your penultimate chemo. It’s absolutely marvellous that we’re nearly at the end. I never thought I’d be excited for chemo, but here I am wishing the days away. X
Hey tatanya good luck for your next chemo yes ladies we are nearly there still in hospital waiting for bloods to come back checking to see if Neutrophils still being difficult x been pumped full of antibiotics throughout the night and today so anything lurking should hopefully be banished, hoping nothing gets in the way of next T on 2nd don’t want any delays in treatment, on the plus side a complementary therapist came to see me and gave me a lovely aromatherapy head and neck massage to help with relaxation it was lovely nice to be able to zone out for a little while xx
Oh bless you, I’m glad you made it to your Dads funeral, but what a way to end an already difficult day, hope you get sorted soon. My Mum died just as I was diagnosed & we had her funeral just after my operation, so I know how you’re feeling, but they are there for us I’m sure. I too have a stuffed up feeling & streaming eyes & runny nose, maybe it is another side effect. I bought the Claritin equilivant today, cheaper than branded version, do you ladies think that will be ok? I’ll try anything not to have the achy tummy I had last time & I’ve got my next “T” on Weds. Do you take them all the way through or just a limited time? I also read SE not so bad if you have treatment in an empty tummy, does anyone know anything about that? Good news the lump is shrinking Tatyana, that’s what we want to hear, & it can carry on doing so! At least it means all this is worth it. Hope you’re sorted as well Missacontuim, honestly as if it’s not bad enough we have to put up with all the little added extras as well, how strong will we all be at the end of all of this? Love to everyone, we’ll be at the end of the tunnel soon. Xx
