July 2017

Sorry Kimi and Carole missed you out there, yeah good luck for Wednesday tandem Carole have a nice time x bye for now everyone

Haha, yes tatyana I’ve gained my new witchy powers just on time. I think I’ll extend that spell to make sure we all have minimal SEs as well.

Yes Michelle, we went to the gardens. The weather was fabulous. We were there from 10am till teatime so a very lovely busy day. We’ll be making good use of the year free pass you get once you’ve bought a ticket. Can’t wait to see how it is at xmas. Will be taking my grandson back to see Santa as well. My Granddaughter is only 5 months so it’ll be a while before she can join in the fun.

I agree that your granddaughter has arrived just at the right time. They really help to carry you through grief and this horrible episode. When my dad died it meant so much to have new life around us that carry some of his genes. He’s living on through them.
Thanks for the hot drink tip. I might take a flask of tea to drink in the car on the way there.

Xxx

P.s. has anyone heard of R1R2 cream for rads? Sounds very good?

Wasn’t he in star wars? Oh, that was r2d2.

Haha. A bit of the force would be handy at the minute. It would be great if they could bottle that. ?

Wouldn’t it just! You could wave your light sabre at your boobs, and then go home for tea and forget the whole thing! I sometimes feel this’journey’ is lasting as long as the whole star wars saga – and I can remember when the first film came out!

Hi girls hope you all well Angela’s whoop whoop last one done eh well done girl bet you are over the moon did you get to ring a ?there isn’t one at the Freeman only in rads just as well as I think I will pull it off the wall when I get my last one only two weeks now
Hope everyone is feeling good with their SE I’m not too bad just the pains on a night keeping me awake
Apart from that though really not too bad as long as my blood behave and no temp keeping everything crossed xxx

Evening all,
Glad you had a good trip FeelTheFear, how did you get on today? Fingers crossed it went well
Happy to hear that you’re doing okay Michelle, not too long to go now!
Good luck for tomorrow Kimi, we’re all rooting for you.
Just looked up that R1R2 cream. Looks interesting and there’s some good testimonials. Wonder if the NHS recommend any particular product?
I’m doing okay, still struggling with nausea atm but other than that most SE’s have eased up. Spent most of the day in the garden today, felt good to be out in the autumn sun :sunny:

Well I’m home. It’s feels fantastic. I know there is still bit of journey to go but the worst is done and dusted. ???
Didn’t ring the bell. They don’t do it at Gateshead. I totally understand. If I was one of the people who are on continuous chemo I know where I’d want to stick it.
I’m at the freeman for radio so looks like maybe I’ll get to ring it then. To be honest, a lovely celebratory glass of champagne or two will make me happier than ringing a bell. ?
Hope everyone is good. Pleased Your SEs seem more manageable this time around Michelle.
Xxx

So pleased for you Angela it doesn’t seem so long when we started on this awful journey and now the worst part is over for you well just about but I’m sure knowing you don’t have to do it anymore after this one makes it a much better pill to swallow ? I honestly can’t wait now two weeks tomorrow for me so I’m not too far behind you yeah I kind of see where you are going really the bell! Im having my rads done at Freeman too maybe we will be having them at the same time xxx

Congratulations Angela, amazing feat, well done, it’s certainly a strength test. Wouldn’t it be nice if minimal SE’s as a Well Done present? Glad you had a lovely break. 1st Nov not far away Michelle & you’ll be doing your last one too, glad you’ve been spending time with that lovely baby, best tonic I bet. Glad your SE’s are easing Missa, & good to get in the garden the sun, hopefully by weekend you’ll improved more & thank you for rooting for me. I wish I’d seen your dance Tatyana, we don’t have a bell, so I’m taking the nurses chocolates tomorrow, hopefully the sugar rush will have them dancingwith me. How lovely your husband was so pleased too, I’m sure it’s tough on them too, mine has been a gem really, especially when I have meltdowns , especially those directed at him!! Thank you all for good wishes, want it done now, & great feeling when it is I’m sure, started taking flipping steroids, but can tell myself last time, even when I’m awake at silly o’clock!! It’ll be lovely when we’re all done, won’t it? But not long now girls, then get this blooming radiotherapy done, warnings about possible side effects unnerved me yesterday, but know they’ve got to tell us. My oncologist just recommended E45 cream, but I’m going to look at the R2D2 (alright R1R2) stuff!! I’ve neen using body shop Aloe Vera body butter & it’s been amazing at keeping my skin from drying, so will ask if I can continue with that, been told we can’t use anything with metallic/sparkly bits in with radiotherapy (could see fireworks!) Do any of you have achey muscles in your legs, my thigh muscles are & my legs feel so weak, I expected this close to next chemo they’d have improved? Bloods all ok for tomorrow, despite cough & cold, whilst don’t want it done, didn’t want a delay, they’re giving me Zolondronic acid at same time tomorrow, so at least all SE’s together. Sorry this goes on, you can tell TV was rubbish tonight! Lots of love & luck to all you lovely girls. Xxx

Good luck for today Kimi and congratulations on making it to the finish line. ???
Thanks to the steroids I’ve been wide awake since 2am so I’m sure I’m the first to send well wishes. I’m not even bothered that I’ll be high as a Kite on drugs and lack of sleep today. I’ll plough through it because I’m off the chemo train. ?

Yay Kimi last one today I’m sure like Angela said knowing it’s the last one will make any side effects easier to bear!!!
It’s great that we are all nearly there it’s been a bumpy ride on the chemo frsin
Hope the nurses like their chocs and dancing!!!
Missa how you doing I’m glad that the nausea is settling down my SE are really settling down just keeping away from germ pits as much as I can to help my bloods!
Tatanya how you doing SE OK for you and Angela last ever steroid buzz bet you’ll miss them!

Thank you Ladies. Will definitely be a relief when I’m back home & it’s done later this afternoon & yes off the blooming chemo train!! Glad you’re ok Angela, I had to get up 3 times for a wee (where does it come from?) thanks to steroids, & was reading at 4.15am but all bearable knowing last time. Good luck everyone, stay well & germ free & we will soon all be onto rads & nearing the finish line. Xxxx

Hey girls how you all doing Kimi hope all went well today, Angela still on planet steroid!! Fingers crossed everything goes well for you
Saw my lovely little girl today gave her a bath fed her had lots of cuddles she is now 7llb 10 Oz she is gorgeous absolutely beautiful we have had some lovely chats I was telling her all the great adventures we are going to have, she really has a look of my dad about her, I really wish he could have met her he would love her but as you said Angela it is comforting to know his genes still live on through her she really has brought so much happiness to us I just can’t wait to finish all this so I can enjoy my life and make lots of happy memories
Feels funny but think I have had some kind of Ephiny and I’m not even religious!!! media.giphy.com/media/3ornkdtVzQfIRpwf I just feel so happy all of a sudden and just want to embrace my life and live it to the full ?

Hi everyone
I’ve had a lovely break in Devon but oh those hills on the cliff path were so tough to walk up.
I had my pre chemo oncology appointment yesterday. My last Tax chemo for Friday has been postponed a week as I’m still not right from the infection that landed me in hospital for 9 days. I’ve still got a persistent chesty cough, very out of breath, fast heart rate and temp still a bit high. He said if I had chemo now I could end up in hospital again with a much worse infection. I still feel exhausted and like I haven’t had a good week this cycle. I so wanted to get my last one done and move on but think this is the right decision. I’ve got to have a chest CT scan on Monday, have been given a steroidal inhaler and had my RT assessment put back as well. I’ve also got neuropathy in fingers and toes so having my last chemo reduced a bit in the hope it won’t do any more damage. Anyone else got this?
Good luck to those who are managing to get their chemo this week. xx

Disappointing Carole but better than you getting ill again when I had to have a postponed treatment due to my reaction it was 9 days on a new drug now and fine yes it pushed the finish line back for me a bit but like you body probably needed to recover a bit glad you enjoyed your holiday, everything seems to be an effort now I’m shocked at how unfit I feel when walking anywhere it really takes it out of me really frustrating when I used to walk for miles before this!!
My last one is on the 1st Nov should have been Monday coming!
The neuropathy thing is a tricky one I’ve defined got a bit but it seems to come and go, more my hands than feet but coping with it OK x
So far so good with temp and other SE just hoping it stays this way when you come to the end you worry about hiccups don’t you but at the same time you have to be safe ?
How is everything going with everyone else today hope you all managing your SE OK it’s freezing this morning I think it’s starting to get really cold now, had a lovely walk yesterday with dog and oh I love dog walking in Autumn!
Going to make a big pan of homemade soup today just what is needed on a day like this!
Baby is coming to ours for the first time today for a little visit can’t wait!! One good thing about being off work is I’m getting to see lots of her while she is tiny ?
also I wondered if any of you have got a puffy face mines really bad I’ve notice these last few days I’m not used to having a round face I’m white as a sheet to really pale with dark circles under my eyes I look like a bloody fat faced vampire ?

Hi Carole, sorry you’ve got a delay to your chemo, it’s so frustrating, but the important thing is to let your body recover. By the way, I know exactly what you mean about the hills, I swear some hills have appeared around here that were never there before. I’ve always been a fast walker, but now for the first time in my life I’m having to ask other people to slow down so I can keep up!
Luckily I’ve not had a problem with feet, only my hands are very red and sore, it’s really interfering with normal life at the moment.
Mishy, how exciting to have the granddaughter coming for her first visit to granny’s place! Have a good time.

Hey everyone how you all doing I’m day 10 still no temp or phone call to the emergency helpline!!! Could this be the new drug I am on or is it that chemo has decided to give me a bit of a break!!!
Apart from the neuropathy I’m doing OK like some of you have said I find walking a huge effort getting tired and breathless if I walk to far or fast I’m finding that really hard I’m used to bombing around love walking always have!!
First visit was lovely yesterday she had a couple hours here we went for a little walk out in pram it was lovely, lots of cuddles of course too ?
Hoping everyone is coping well with their side effects especially you last timers you deserve an easy ride for your last one!!!
Weather is still pants today but managed to get out fo my walk before the rain started!!!
Keep well ladies speak soon ?

I’m back at hospital being assessed, temp a bit up, heart rate up and breathlessness. Had antibiotics and another chest X-ray and bloods done again. Hoping I’m ok to go home but this infection doesn’t want to go away x
