Morning ladies! How are we all today?
FeelTheFear I love the sound of your costume! My last chemo is on Halloween, I’m tempted to turn up in costume to give the nurses a giggle.
Kimi, I hope you’re feeling a bit better today. I’m with you about the taste thing. My appetite has disappeared with the EC, probably because everything tastes vile! Going to get some cheap champagne to celebrate the end of chemo, not much point buying expensive stuff if it’s going to taste like crap!
Tatyana, shame about the party but you’re being sensible. At least by Christmas everything should be a lot easier.
Glad the SE’s are better for you on the new chemo Michelle, makes such a difference! I’m not too bad actually. This is my good week and beyond the usual tiredness (and a mild hangover this morning from a couple of glasses of wine last night- I’m a lightweight these days) I’m feeling pretty good for a change. Touch wood I’m through the worst of it with no infections this time around, despite my cat trying to jump on my lap, missing, and clawing me as he fell off the sofa!
Hope you managed to get some sleep last night Carole.
It’s great to see we are all doing well this time love the plastic cheese!! Absolutely spot on!!
Loving the idea of going to chemo in Halloween costume!! Mines the day after so I can’t! Going to take some treats for the nurses as a thank you for all of their hard work
Had onc app today good to go for last treatment he is also sending referral off for radiotherapy should be 4 weeks after last chemo so should be a done in time for Xmas thank God!!!
By the way the veggie korma and bombs spuds sound mmm I absolutely can’t wait for my taste buds to return n
But worried that I will enjoy the food too much and pile on the pounds I will certainly be sticking to my new found love of cooking healthier meals I made a lovely healthy apple crumble yesterday replacing the sugar for hunny and cinnamon and the crumble I use oats and cinnamon with a drizzle of hunny on top no sugar! It was lovely too I used to have such a sweet tooth before all this but that vanished can’t stand the taste of chocolate or biscuits everything has to be really bland or tart if it’s sweet ugh! Also can’t stand taste of coffee juice and water ugh!
My thing tends to be potatoes and pasta ?
Morning ladies.
Hope everyone is doing okay. I had swollen glands yesterday, my nose was running like a tap ? and coughing fits. I was terrified it was the sign of worse to come but have woken up today feeling much better.
Well I’m off to the caravan soon. The WiFi is dreadful so I may not post until I return. Here’s hoping we all have a really good week.
Great that you’ve been given the green light for last chemo Michelle. I don’t have to see my oncologist again until dec 10 after ct scan. Rads should be over then to. We may even have the same one as he’s from the freeman. X
P.s started to give myself the injections on Sunday. Can’t believe I’ve relied on my husband all of these months. It’s so easy. No pain whatsoever. I had to give it a go as he’s not coming to Northumberland until Friday night and I have two left to go (40 down). X
Mishy, so pleased that you are good to go for the last chemo. Go girl! And your apple crumble sounds excellent.
Ftf, what a relief that you woke up feeling better. And congrats on doing the injections, it was something I thought I’d never be able to do but I did, so I was quite proud of myself. Hubby has a needle phobia and can’t even be in the same room, so it was me or daily nurse visits, and doing it myself was less bother. But it was a real relief when I got to the last one! You’re nearly there now.
Hi Ladies. Well SE’s are slowly subsiding, although still got oral thrush & that disgusting taste in my mouth. Frequent visits to loo now & last injection tonight! Yey! I do them myself now, I don’t think my OH enjoyed doing it & I think I tensed up more when he did, but hopefully after tonight no more. My friend came round yesterday & bought me a lovely apple turnover, it could have been wax, but bless her anyway.
Glad your doing ok Michelle, great this treatment is kinder, just goes to show if we were able to have the more expensive meds we may not have to suffer so much, but that’s another subject!
Glad CT scan done Carole, fingers crossed all is ok.
Hope that medicinal Prosecco atop the bucket hit the spot Angela, oh the vision! That & the Pumpkin outfit! Enjoy Northumberland & the break from hospitals & builders & I hope it’s a good party. Hopefully those cold symptoms will be gone before you go, I’m still bloody coughing & phlegmy, but I think it is improving.
Missa, I think you def should turn up for treatment in costume, you never know they might be dressed as Vampires! Hope it goes ok for you & congratulations on it being last one. Hope cat wound came to nothing, I don’t pick mine up at the moment because I’m worried she might scratch me. Enjoy the Champagne.
Glad you’ve found something you can taste Tatyana, & enjoyed it, it makes so much difference, you might never want to eat Indian food again at the end of this, I know I’ve had one too many chicken Kiev & the thought now…!!
I’m off to clean my teeth, use mouthwash, drink water, have a mint, use some Nystan & if all that fails Domestos!!!
Have good rest of week Ladies, thank you all for being there. Xxx
Ki your domestos made me laugh! It might even taste of something! xx
Yes Angela we may! He’s he’d of oncology dept my onc he’s lovely, I’m pleased you don’t feel poorly todayand you can still go ahead with your trip
Kimi yeah I know what you mean about the cost! I wouldn’t have got it If I hadn’t been allergic to Doxetaxal!!! Got to have an ultrasound when chemo cycle is finished as I have been getting pain under ribs on right side for couple of week he thinks it’s my liver and it could be chemo related I was worried yesterday but then I thought if he was really concerned he would have ordered one straight away!
Carole hope the cat scan results are OK
Its lovely to hear everyone is feeling a bit better shame about the crappie mouth but not long now
Here’s to a good day everyone xx
Hi everyone
My CT showed no blood clots thank goodness so I’m off the injections. Dr said I could wean off steroids but actually I should be doing chemo on Friday which means double steroids on Thursday, so I’ve only got one day to cut them down, lol.
I don’t know yet what my lung nodule is doing. Should find out Thursday.,
Hope you are all doing ok xx
Carole, no blood clots, great news! But you must be fed up of buzzing around on steroids by now, using up loads of energy that you haven’t really got.
Hope the news on the lung nodule is also good, and that Friday’s chemo goes ok. Meanwhile are you enjoying the sunshine today - I know I am!
Good news Carole no blood clots what a relief for you fingers crossed with the rest
It’s good to hear that you are all doing OK it’s quite quiet on here at the moment which is a good sign that you are feeling so well your enjoying good days x
It’s great to see the finishing line isn’t it I know there are rads for some of us and surgery but for me the chemo was what I dreaded the most and will be over the moon next Wed to say fec off to it!! I know I’m a little ahead of myself but just keep thinking only a few more weeks of chemo brain achy painy slimey mouth horribleness will celebrate with a big meal out with family I think once taste buds return
Been raining all morning here in Newcastle not the sunshine some of you have had!
Was look at my garden and it’s looking a bit neglected think if it’s OK tomorrow might go out for a little tidy up x
Have any of you got any hair yet? I have a fluffy top of head and a shadow at sides and back, apparently there is a product from the lush shop which helps hair return thicker if I find it’s name I will post it on here
Bye for now girls take care xx
Hi Mishy,
Yes I think quiet is good! I’m like you, the chemo was what scared me most, I’ve still got surgery to come and possibly rads, but somehow that’s not so scary! I can tell you that it’s now day 13 after my last chemo, and the taste buds are definitely coming back now. Can’t say food and drink are normal yet, but much better. I actually fancied a salad for lunch and enjoyed it! I’m sure I’ll feel better anyway when I am eating healthier food again!
No sign of any hair yet, but my scalp is a bit itchy and scratchy, which I’m hoping is a good sign!
Sorry you missed out on the sun today, it’s been lovely down here. I sat in the garden for a while.
I cannot wait I miss my food so much I’m a food!!
I have fluffy fuzzy stuff I’ve been reading on the May thread about silk pillow cases I’m probably a bit late in the day but thinking it might help my new hair when its coming in Dont want to rub any off ???
Mishy getvthe silk pillowcase, John Lewis was where I got mine, my cousin who’s seen off bc 3 times told me to get one as soon as she heard about me, it’s kerping my grade 4 at the moment and it is kinder to hair when it starts growing back like yours is sweety and we want it to come back as soon as don’t we. ??shi xx
Thanks for the tip Shi! Hope all you July girls are good today Missa not long for us now I take it your enjoying having a good week before last one!!!
It’s definitely Autumn now the air has a nip in it and it’s getting dark really early now x will any of you be going to watch fireworks I’m disappointed I can’t as I will be still feeling crappie but never mind!!
My onc has sent referral off for rads so should be receiving app soon have any of you got a date yet for yours I think me and Angela could possibly be doing ours round about same time at the Freeman we may bump into each other! Bye for now everyone ?
Welcome tatyana, hope you have had a restful day. ??shi xx
Got my app through for rads assessment 6th Nov they certainly aren’t wasting any time my next chemo is the 1st!!!
Dont know what it will invest probably talk me through rads and everything I’m getting a bit nervous about it! Don’t know why I think it’s just rattling on now isn’t it!!!
Loving the sound of your village bonfire night, what a lovely way for you to celebrate the end of chemo
I know Alnwick gardens have a lovely Christmas market so do Beamish I’m thinking if rads are over by then going along!! Christmas shopoing is something I love so really looking forward to it!
Hope everyone is feeling OK x
Evening ladies, how are we all doing?
Tatyana, you’re spot on about the Indian food. It’s the one thing I can taste and enjoy. Think I might celebrate the last chemo with a takeaway from my favourite Indian on Tuesday. I’m the same as you, surgery next then rads.
Kimi, hope you’re able to to taste stuff now! At least you’ve finished your injections now.
Good luck for tomorrow Carole, hope the steroids aren’t giving you too hard a time.
Michelle, really hope the pain under your ribs is nothing serious and goes away after chemo. I’m going to bake some goodies for the nurses to say thank you.
My hair has stayed put apart from a large thinning patch on the top of my head. Bought some thickening shampoo/conditioner/serum today to try and hide it. Going to start taking some supplements after chemo which I’m hoping will help it grow back thicker and faster. In the meantime, I’m going to try this keratin sprinkle stuff which sticks to your existing hair and hides the baldy bits. It’s that or keep wearing a beanie whenever I leave the house!
FeelTheFear hope you’re enjoying your jaunt at the caravan. Glad you’re able to do your injections on your own. I had to get my husband to do the first few for me, I was so sick of stabbing myself as I did all the IVF injections before I started chemo.
I’m enjoying feeling more human this week. Seeing friends, gig, wine tasting, and an early wedding anniversary dinner all planned for the next few days! Making the most of it
Hi Missa I’m with you on the Indian takeaway I think!! I’m one day behind you so not long now for us I’m rads after this had surgery at the beginning just can’t wait to get this all over and done with see onc on the 4th Dec after last chemo so hopefully my scan will be as he said I don’t think it will be a problem I don’t think they would leave it otherwise
I’m definitely enjoying my feeling normal week too spending lots of time having family catch ups and loads of baby cuddling!!!
