July 2024 chemo starters

I would highly recommend the PJs from Sainsbury’s they do short and long legs and are stretchy Tshirt.

I did have some open fronted nightshirts from M&S but they were too short to wear in hospital, kept flashing my knickers!

Yes, I was disappointed with M&S selection when I was looking in May - Sainsbury’s ones wash well too

Hi all
I have my surgery date so just have to finish one more chemo session at end of November…i can’t wait to get chemo out of the way…
I bought my post surgery bras from Asda. I’m afraid on-line.
I phoned this charity for suppoŕt- the someone like me service. I’ll see who i match with but it would be good to talk with someone in depth who knows what this feels like.
I feel like I’ve had cancer forever.

You’re almost there ! :heartbeat:

I know what you mean about feeling like cancer has been forever

I was diagnosed 20/02 - god I can remember it so well too - the BC consultant came out like the grim reaper with a nurse & medical student & I knew then & there it was bad news :worried: (and I was alone as I snagged a cancellation appt that day so whipped on my lunch break from work. I really thought it wasn’t going to be suspicious. Ha!)

Let me know how you get on with the support. I see it’s part of Breast Cancer Now

Hope you’re feeling ok from the latest round of chemo :pray:t2:

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice. Had my appointment with oncologist today to sort out my radiotherapy which he previously told me would start about 3 to 4 weeks after my last chemo. They’ve had 2 staff members leave and struggling to get replacements so said it could now be 3 months before I start radio. Has anyone else been given timescales for radio after chemo?
When they did my surgery they found another tumour near my collarbone that they took out but it didn’t have clear margins and he previously told me that if there were any cancer cells remaining the radiotherapy would kill them off. Now I’m stressing that because chemo has finished, a 3 month delay will give them a chance to start growing.

Oh you poor thing thats horrible to hear. 3 months does seem a long time. From my last chemo to my first radiotherapy is 6 weeks. Is there anyone you can speak to maybe your bcn. Short staffed or not this is crap. Sorry you’re having this to deal with x

Thank you @debi1 My brother who lives in Ipswich has suggested I ask if I can have it done there and I could stay with him and his family (I live in Cumbria) I’m going to ring oncologist’s secretary in the morning and see if it’s possible.:crossed_fingers:

@angieb1 I hope you are able to move the radiotherapy to Ipswich. 3 months seems a long time to wait

Hope it’s a greenlight to move to another place

I was told 6 weeks btw last chemo & radio so 3 months sounds like a stretch

I had radio to my collarbone too but didn’t show in any scans

Are these nodes checked? I didn’t ask why I needed radio in my collarbone :woman_facepalming:t2:

Anyways fingers crossed your radio is sorted xx

Thanks @booklover1 @idcand49 @debi1
Good news  I spoke to Secretary and she checked and said that Oncologist had got mixed up with waiting lists. Patients who have finished chemo need to be seen asap and told me I should be getting appointment for planning scan in next week or two then start chemo second week of December.
The 3 month wait is for patients needing radiotherapy who haven’t had chemo. x

@angieb1 ah great news!

Hope everyone else ok.

Had my 3/4 ec last Thursday and just feeling better!
One more to go next week like @ldm
@booklover1 hope your feeling better after your second - it’s a slow crawl isn’t it.

Hope @zaran and @idcand49 your feeling ok after starting / finishing radio. Your experiences really do help. Xx

I never used front fastening bras @cf640 I just got a couple of flexi fit full cup bras from m and s after a fitting they are so comfy and just got slightly bigger for the first couple of weeks. I drove my automatic after 3ish weeks and yoga is still helping to keep my arm full moving and pain free from surgery in June xxx

Ps has anyone asked and had a reduced dose for their 4th EC? Just due to spending most of the last 3/4 weeks in the house feeling exhausted?

Have my onco appointment this afternoon and going to ask but just wondered about anyone else’s experience xx

I had 3 lots of EC which weren’t too bad but then changed to Docetaxel which completely wiped me out, spent 3 days in bed and side effects were awful. I had review with oncologist after and he said the dose had probably been too high and he reduced my last 2 doses by 25% which helped a lot.
I think the effects are cumulative though so could just be that but you should definitely ask and see what they say. Good luck. x

Thankyou. Xxxx

. yes I agree they will say prob cummulative and fatigue is just an expected side effect… I’m just hoping after 15 doses of chemo they might take pity on me for my last :crossed_fingers:t2:
I see what they say later…
