Well my bloods are ok, and tax is due tomorrow at 8.30. Am 8 steroids down today and got my emend for first thing. Oncologist has said to start taking painkillers as soon as pain kicks in. Gulp. Good look Barbara for tomorrow! Think it is sofa bear ? weekend for me.
Hi everyone I’m same as Vic - 8 steroids down and as ready as I can be for the tax. Cheers for the advice on painkillers Vic. I’m a couple of hours behind you at 10 30 tomorrow. Not had blood results yet but here’s hoping! Let me know how it goes Vic. Good luck!! Barbara x
Will do. Think we are going to be rattling on this one! Onc said to manage pain quickly…or its hospital time.
Am dreading it vic as I am already on opiates for existing spine pain and have sciatica as well to add to it! Could cry at the thought of more pain. Been fine up to today but really starting to dread tomorrow now! Maybe I’ll be lucky (pigs might fly more like!!) Xx
What is bowing therapy vic? Is it available nationally? Xx
Ladies I have another query for you. I have been told I am not allowed to wear deodorant during treatment. The last couple days I have started to get a bit smelly under the armpits but this is new. Shower every day and now twice a day. Anyone gad similar problems or been told different and any solutions? Barbara x
Hi ladies
Just a quickie to say good luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you. Have been trying to forget I have cancer for a few days before the weeklies start so not been on here.
I start a week today so will be relying on your wisdom.
Saw my oncologist yest for my midpoint review and he didn’t mention pain. Either he forgot or maybe it won’t be that bad - I’m rooting for the second option!
Barbara can you use a natural crystal deodorant from the heathfoid shop? I used one travelling years ago and it was alright. No chemicals so can’t see how it would be a problem?
Lindy I don’t know much about the radiotherapy, hope you’ve found some answers.
Try to get some sleep ladies, final chemo stretch starts tomorrow xx
Thank you ladies - for the good wishes, links and advice. Seeing I’m wide awake because of the steroids (I was warned!) I will be doing some delving! !! Sar41 it will be interesting to see how you fare with the weeklies as a comparison to vic and myself with the three weeklies. Watch this space! Barbara x
Good luck tomorrow ladies! I’m now on day 6 and to be honest the pain is pretty bad still I’ve got a feeling of weakness in my legs so am now relying on a walking stick! Hilarious! I had to go to hospital today but was to I’m just suffering from severe side effects so they have upped the pain killers and to me to rest…here’s hoping for some improvement soon. Sleep well x
NMT that sounds tough, hope painkillers work. First T went in this morning, feeling tired (steroids and nerves kept me awake too!) but better at mo than on FEC. know side effects kick in later, so had restful afternoon and watching bake off!! Been sent home with absolute vat of meds and been told to call if I need them. Writing off the weekend and keeping fingers crossed. Take care folks xx
Wasn’t as luck as Vic. Took a reaction to the tax. First pain between shoulders. Went as red as my dress, blood pressure pulse and temperature rocketed felt awful and very scared especially when my windpipe start closing and I couldnt breathe! Nurses were fab though. Six around me within seconds - it was like a scene out of casualty crash team decending! Felt so much better when it was reversed and when they tried it again more slowl it was much better! Like you Vic it’s a few easy and lazy days for me too!!! Barbara xx
Hope you are ok now Barbara that sounds really scary! I’m still walking with the stick and in pain but I’m hoping we are getting to the end of it now! Hope you are managing to rest vic I have found that a hot water bottle helps with some of the aches and pains. X
Oh nmt1 not so good you still bad and still having to use the walking stick. Have they said how long it will be till it starts to ease off? It’s amazing how powerful the drugs are and the impact they have on our lives so quickly. Here’s hoping they do the same damage to the cancer cells as they are doing to the rest! Goid luck for your Bracknell test tomorrow. How long till you get the results? Barbara x
Predictive text on my phone bad but I guess you will get the gist of it nmt! X
I’m glad other people have issues with predictive text!! ? they have now said I won’t get better until I stop the injections (tomorrow) so I’m hoping to start getting back to normal over the weekend…it’s amazing how much damage they can do but I know it’s all “a means to an end” so I will get through this! We all will! They have said to expect the results in about 6 weeks, I’m seeing the lead person for Bradford who has the power to get results so I’m hoping to have them in time to make an informed decision about my surgery x
Ladies, slight change of subject but those who are getting them, are you finding hot flushes worse at night? Am cooking!! About to trot off and get cooling pillows. Hubby like a radiator, one of cats loves my bald head and its just to much!! Any hints / tips on how you deal, gratefully received! Know it is SE of chemo plus zoladex, but it sucks.
Am exactly the same and having really vivid dreams with them, could never remember my dreams before and these are really strange ones!
Asked my oncologist what I could take for hot flushes on Monday and have started on evening primrose oil. Only been 2 days but hoping they’ll work. Will let you know x
How are you managing with the steroids? I’m starting the dreaded docetaxel in 2 weeks. Not looking forward to needed all the steroids. Had a nightmare my first round with very little sleep and hot flushes for 5 days, managed the next 2 rounds on reduced steroids and was on half the amount im gonna require for my next 3 rounds.
Hi all, how are you getting on? My arms and legs and getting better slowly, my oncologist has said they are going to “think carefully about what we do for my next round” but I have no idea what that means! My husband was rushing in to hospital Sunday and had emergency surgery on his spine so we will be relying even more on our wonderful family and friends over the next six weeks x
Hi nmt1 so glad to hear your arms and legs getting better. You managed to get rid of the walking aid yet? Tax has hit me hard like you as well. Been in bed Saturday Sunday Monday. Had horrendous bone pain including my ribs! Phoned the helpline for advice as had such bad pain between shoulders - they sent an ambulance with blue light and I got carted off to hospital! Wouldn’t listen to me when I insisted it was bone pain but on the plus side I got my pain sorted out! Wouldn’t wish this treatment on my worst enemy but hey it has to do its job! Soooo looking forward to my good week next week!!! How is everyone else getting on? Barbara x
