Happy weekends I hope! How are you all doing?
@naughty_boob hope things are smoother?
I’ve just had immunotherapy on its own for the first time. Weird being in chemo unit knowing that I have finished - at least for now.

Hi @rachel60
They managed to get me a cancelled appointment this week and the side effects are starts kick in.
Unfnext week it’s at the farthest centre again and I have my Herceptin injection which adds to the time and the PICC line should be being removed as well which is another 20/30 minutes. They booked 1pm to finish at 5:15 not allowing for PICC removal. Also the bell to ring is in the main centre in Cardiff so they have removed my choice to do this on my last chemotherapy ( even if it’s not the last treatment- maybe that’s when I should ring it? )
I have clinic in Tuesday so am not going to stress now and will ask then and hope there is another cancellation.
Have an ultrasound on my liver next Wednesday after my iffy blood results, Nil by Mouth for 6 hours before. Not so great when you need to be hydrated with chemotherapy!
Was you immunotherapy via a drip? Was it quicker than chemotherapy? I’ve seen so many people come in for an hour and go and I stuck there for 5 hours.
Hi all, hope you are doing okay - I had my lumpectomy on Tuesday. Stayed overnight and was discharged the next day. Feel very tired but okay. Im making sure to do my physio exercises x
Great news jess that you can tick that box! Hope recovery is good and early days but you get the movement back. Are you having radiotherapy? X
You made me laugh, spending 30 minutes flirting!
I think the other therapies being given like immunotherapy and Zolendronic acid infusion ( that I’m due next year) are being done in chemo units where they probably need new unit for the other treatments. But I’d it’s anything like our centres they don’t have enough staff to run another unit.
I bet it can be quite triggering when you finished chemo and then back in the chair, my Zolendronic acid is due April, 3 months after chemo and I would rather have it anywhere than a chemo chair, maybe I could go into a doctors office!
Yes feeling happy to get it ticked off! I am meant to be having 15 sessions of radiotherapy 4-8 weeks after my op. I know some people only have 5 sessions, so will ask my onc why I need 15… Best of luck for your surgery Rachel, is it in the new year? X
Hi @Jess_1
Glad it all went well. Take the painkillers they gave you ( probably codeine but you may get constipation so taken Senna or Lactulose). Take your time to recover it is major surgery even for day case. Also some incisions can be quite deep, one of mine was near the chest wall and there is a lot of time needed to fully heal.
I think I’ve mentioned before that www.pennybrohn.org.uk doa monthly scar workshop. 3 sessions over 3 months, intro, manual manipulation from 6 weeks ( very gentle) and emotional aspects of dealing with scars. Next into is January 2024.
When outer wound/scar healed, I would recommend bio oil or Ren Gen oil ( recommended by cancer hair care for a fraction of the cost £2.90 said in Primark and online) I used bio oil even though some say it contains nasties ( petrol derived chemicals) when I had radiotherapy planning they were impressed by how much my scars had heal. Penny Brohn lady recommends Rosehip oil. For someone with allergies especially to essential oils and fragrance the petrol derived stuff works better for me and most dermatologists recommend and prescribe. Eczema medication is all based on man made ingredients.
Great you are through it. My op is on 2nd. Lumpectomy. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly!
Keep healing well and look how far you have come. Xxx
Naughty_boob what day is your last chemo and we can with you Shi xx

Hi all
Chemo done PICC line out so 24 hours can have a nice bath with no plastic sleeve.
Out for 7 1/2 today it’s been along day. So many temporary traffic lights and road works, than goodness for SAT NAVs as so many road signs have disappeared by road works. Had two lovely nurses that I had treated me 4 times over the weeks, so really nice to have them. Had another nurse tell me off for opening the window, CO2 monitor was 1500 alarm on window open slightly for a little draft (it was so hot I was sweating in the chair) went down to 500 a little higher than outside fresh air. I said I’m hot and need some air flow even with cold cap.
So relieved it’s all done, and just need to get past Monday and start to feel better. Have a few weeks off them MUGA heart scan 2 Jan and radiotherapy 10 Jan with some dental treatment to sort a problem. (not looking forward to that, had asked for early appointment before other go in but I’m at lunch time)
. Well done on getting to the final chemo! Enjoy the PICC free bath xx
naughty_boob do get yourself a treat, finishing chemo must have a treat Shi xx
