June 2025 chemo starters

Does anyone else have achey, sore veins? I’ve just finished 4x fortnightly AC, all given by cannula. This past week the veins in my hands, lower arms, elbows and up into my biceps ache like anything. I start 12x weekly paclitaxel on Tuesday… dreading my veins getting worse. Is it just me?!

I’ve noticed my forearms are a bit achey today. I’m having it by cannula and there’s a big bruise where last weeks was done. I dread it every time as it’s the worst part for me. Well that and the five jabs at home, some are painless and some bloody hurt and I don’t know why!

Yes I’ve got one vein in my forearm that’s gone really hard and hurts if I stretch my arm out fully. You can see it really clearly too. I keep stretching it to ease it. I’ve also had my chemo through a cannula. The nurse said it was common on EC but I see you had a different chemo so it must be common on that too. I showed my oncologist and he wasn’t overly concerned so I’m hoping eventually it will improve

Same ! Some injections no pain, no problem. Others really hurt & a couple have drawn blood and bruised. But I don’t do anything different :woman_shrugging:

Sorry docetaxel is being horrible. Having an appointment for the next stage (radio) must feel like a small light at the end of the tunnel

That tight vein sounds nasty. I hope it eases for you soon.

Yes, I was on Doxorubicin/Adriamycin - seems to be used here in Ireland whereas it appears Epirubicin is used in the UK - another Red Devil.

It’s good (I think!) to know this is common, but still - it freaks me out to think what this poison is doing to my body (the obvious notwithstanding!). 8 weeks in and 12 to go…
and I just want my body back (not to mention my brain )

Oh I bet it’s a similar sort of chemo then. Yeah I agree…. Brain, body & hair back please :grinning: but not armpit hair, don’t mind that missing :grinning:

Yes, one vein is stained black from EC 1 and sore. They used a better vein for EC 2 and another for EC 3 which is also sore. I’m worried I’ve run out of suitable veins for the 3 Dox cycles. The nurses said they’d eventually recover…

Oh, I hope that resolves for you soon - that does sound unpleasant. I hope the remaining cycles go ok x

I have a painful vein in my forearm. Its gone hard and painful when I straighten my arm. However, its improving this week! . I was told yo keep stretching and massaging it.

Has anyone had red spots appear on their face. Ive had raised itchy red spots over the last week. I’ve used some steroid cream on them which has helped but wow. Can chemo throw any more weird side effects at us!

Same for me. Some completely painless and some sting like a b***h. I don’t do anything different.
