June 2026 chemo starters

Welcome @harri2026 - your diagnosis and treatment is very similar to mine. Hope things go ok tomorrow

Welcome @LittleBitBrave- seems a few of us starting EC on tuesday. Definitely some comfort knowing i will not be alone that day!

In an awful way it will be good to get going instead of the waiting and not knowing exactly what to expect.

@loopylea thank you for your message.

Your daughter sounds amazing and so grown up. It’s a good thing that you had a cry together. There are going to be hard days ahead I’m sure, but there will be good days and laughter too and you will get through it. Remember the words on the bracelet she made you :flexed_biceps::heart:

I’ll let you know how tomorrow goes.

Keep strong everyone.

@beef2000 thank you :folded_hands: the waiting is hard, often the hardest bit. Stay strong x

@jillylovesgin the mittens apparently help with nail damage and can reduce peripheral neuropathy. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I did order some Poly balm nail application to help protect hand and toe nails , it was expensive but it had been recommended by a few people so I thought it might be worth it.

Yes I’m trying that too

Yes the waiting is awful I feel like they may have wasted a couple of weeks with me just waiting for extra tests PET etc… and now I know the start date I don’t want to do it but want to do it if that make sense. I went in last week for the nurse assessment and to be shown where my chemo will be so at least I know what to expect. I feel well at the moment so it’s so cruel that what’s coming is going to make us poorly ( let’s all hope for minimal side effects!!)

I wish you luck - maybe we can write after our first session? Xx

Hi, I am having my first chemo session tomorrow (Monday 1 June).

I was diagnosed on 31 Dec last year, and had a lumpectomy and sentinel node removal on 16 Feb. Cancer was found in 2 of the 4 nodes removed so I went back in for a lymph node clearance on 30 March. Am now due to have 6 sessions of TC chemo, one every 3 weeks.

I have decided to pre-empt the hair loss a little bit, and today cut all my hair off and then used clippers on the remains. It is very short but doesn’t look too bad atm actually!

Bit nervous about some of the side effects but you don’t really know how it will affect you so shouldn’t really dwell on it.

Good luck to everyone starting this month! Xxx

Hi @loopylea, thank you!
We can compare notes .

Have been awake since just before 4 today. Not sure if it the steroids or nerves! Or possibly both!
I hope to post later today with my experiences.

Take care, xxxx

@eils85 Thank you! I am quite nervous tbh….going into the unknown. I am sure it will all be fine. Heading out for the bus to the hospital now xxx

One step at a time and lots of slow breathing. If your mind is racing do some people watching on the bus and make up scandalous stories in your head about what everyone’s day is looking like. But don’t miss your stop

100% agree.

So hard when all the treatment makes you feel worse than you do at the start.

She’s so grown up!! Love her to bits.. we went o K-pop concert last night ( probably shouldn’t have) but it was her first concert and I was desperate to see her reactions!! Although a great night she soon turned into a grump when She had to come to work this morning at 7.15am with me!!

Had my PICC line inserted today. All straightforward and pretty painless. Has felt quite comfortable since - hope sleeping isn’t too difficult tonight :crossed_fingers:t2:

I made sure to be very well hydrated (was bursting for the loo!) and wore 3 layers including a thermal top  to make sure I was nice and warm.

Good luck to all of you getting PICCs!

First chemo tomorrow . . . :grimacing:
