Hope your bloods are ok today and everything goes well tomorrow. Each chemo day is one more down. We just need to get this shit over with. Hope you get some sleep tonight x
Whenâs your next one? X
Good luck to everyone preparing / on to cycle number 2âŠ.weâve done it onceâŠwe can do it again.
Just a little hope for anyone feeling rough afterwardsâŠ.i found the 1st 4-5 days after really hard but managed to make it away on the wkd to watch my daughter in a dance comp (on day 13 and 14) so hopefully everyone else has some days where theyâre feeling better.
Hey, Iâm the 23rd and dreading it. When are you? ![]()
Mines now Iâm currently sitting in the chair!![]()
mines every 2 weeks! Had an ecg they said was fine! Had a chat with the chemist man (heâs not gonna work the days Iâm in!) I asked if I could take anything for the red face hot flushâs and he said anti histamines wouldnât help it?? But Iâve read so many people said it helped them? so nervous coming home to the side effects ![]()
Aww thatâs good Iâm glad you got away! I bet that cheered you right up
itâs nice if you have things to look forward to and then itâs on a good day !![]()
Hope itâs not as bad as youâre fearing! My friend just had her 2nd EC cycle last Thursday and sheâs absolutely fine so far with exception of a slight tingle in her face thatâs subsiding and because she was real poorly after the first one expected the same but hasnât..so maybe the same for you? ![]()
Oh this is reassuring!!! I pray
for the same xx
Thank you ![]()
@LittleBitBrave will be thinking about you and hope you have an easier time this cycle ![]()
Mine was today but later appt so only home at 7pm after the cold cap. Good luck for the 23rd. Keeping distracted in the build up def helped the anxiety.
for us all
Hope everyone on their second round is doing okay? I now have my start date, which is Friday. I wouldnât say Im excited but Im relieved that weâre getting started.
I got the all clear from my surgeon today as I have had an infected seroma post surgery. It has been drained about four times but has thankfully healed, unfortunately its left a fairly noticeable dent in badly behaved boob, which is a little bit triggering as it is very similar to what led to my diagnosis. Apparently, if the dent is still there at the end of radiotherapy, I can have my thigh fat injected to fill it - thankfully I have plenty to spare.
I think it is EC first, Im having my heart echo first thing on Saturday morning so hoping Im not too rough. Grateful for any top tips of what to wear and advice on good snacks.
Hey @binky1
Glad to hear youâre good to go on your treatment. Not anyoneâs first choice for how to spend any kind of time on a Friday I know, but needs must, eh?
My top tip for if you donât have a PICC line or similar and will be having a cannula in your hand is wearing something that involves as little faff as possible when going to the loo. As luck would have it, I turned up in easy to pull up and down joggers, but if Iâd have been in anything involving buttons or zips, it would definitely have been a problem!
Good luck with your treatment and hope your echo goes well too.
I have cannula, I bought a couple of pairs of jogging style bottoms for chemo. HAd to abandon them as my skin plus chemo reacted to the fabric. I have been wearing much looser (thank you chemo induced weight loss!) cotton jeans and trousers with zips and buttons and managed without dislodging the cannula. The zip is easy but I suggest you check it has a button you can do up with one hand.
IF you really struggle with a button thatâs stiff I promise you the nurse looking after you will help rather than see the cannula dislodged. guess how I found out about stiff jean buttons.
Hey @binky1 great youâve got a start date, I was like you I just wanted things to get moving.
I wore layers as initially the hospital was really warm but then between the cold capping etc I needed to wrap up. Wearing a cardi or a zipper can be helpful cos you can take it all off except for one arm where your cannula is and cool down a bit without needing to reconnect your IV access. Ditto the elasticated waist joggers- I got some from Asda that also had zips down the side if you need any thigh injections. i Brought a photo frame with photos of my husband and and daughter on our wedding (we managed to get married the week before chemo started) and it just was a visual reminder why i was doing it all (im such a woose with needles so it was something to look at instead). I brought ginger nuts to snack on and a water bottle and juice bottle. I downloaded some films on a tablet that were easy to watch/ didnât need concentration. I thought I would read but couldnât really concentrate (not because of the drugs I think I was just wound up). I would also just stock up on things you might need in the house for after (for me that was Imodium, gaviscon, paracetamol, piriton, non minty toothpaste, emollient cream, soups, fruit purĂ©es, yogurt and apple juice).
Hope it goes well xx
ps do not buy any colouring books- folk seem to like to buy them for you as pressies! I have now have quite a collection ![]()
Hope youâre feeling ok today @beef2000
For anyone needing a trashy film- office romance on Netflix is an easy watch. JLo and the hairy guy from Ted lasso x
Good luck for friâŠ.youâre right about the relief of having a start date.
The EC chemo actually only took about 40mins as it is in syringes.
I cold capped so had to hang around for longerâŠ.didnt get too cold ? Mix of time of yr and the meds theyâve given me to make me menopausal.
Took sweets to suck on, bottle of water, blanket, book to read and material hairband and parcetamol for the cold cap.
Good luck
Hiya @eils85 âŠ. I would definitely recommend asking to be prescribed these re: Gelclair ⊠mouth and tongue soreness was a constant for me throughout 12-weeks of Paclitaxel & Carboplatin ⊠now into 4-cycles of EC, and still suffering!! Gelclair is the ONLY thing that has helped ![]()
@mssteel thank you so much. I can definitely think of more enjoyable ways, but it will also get me out of cleaning the house on Friday evening so there is that.
Thatâs great to know re the no faff trousers, it is going to be a cannula. Elasticated waists are more comfy anyway. The pandemic ended my relationship with jeans!
@wibbles good idea to practice ahead - I hate trying on clothes in shops as I always think Im going to get stuck in them. Im not sure what I think will happen ![]()
