Your experience sounds so like mine. I am 3.5 weeks after radiotherapy now and still not back to myself in terms of energy levels and tiredness but I think I am getting there. I guess one day we will both suddenly think ‘i am no longer feeling tired’.
Try to pace yourself. Be kind to yourself. Without any obvious visual signs it is difficult to remember the healing process your body is undertaking at the moment. Especially as others think that you are ‘all done now’.
Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I had a “fun” rebound reaction a month after finishing.
I went on a small walk while away on holiday. I had been active at home, but at home I was wearing whatever my breast felt happiest in. On holiday, I had to be decent and stick with my choices once I was out.
I guess the bra was rubbing. I had a small chafed place, looked like a rash and was itchy. After that, the red area grew and grew, just about an inch wide, but all the way round the side boob and most of the way under. It turned into a burn worse than I’d experienced in my first round of side effects.
I consulted a MacMillan nurse and my key worker nurse and had a call from my oncologist’s team. There was some confusion over whose responsibility I was. Some said it was unusual, but almost certainly the radiotherapy, and one said they’ve been seeing this more often after the five day course.
It was scary, and it started to peel, but luckily no blistering or skin breakdown. Pretty unattractive for a while but looking good now.
