Just been diagnosed tnbc ....

Hi its my first time here and would like to wish you all the best. I have been reading your posts and it’s amazing how positive everybody is…

I was diagnosed on 14th March as having triple negative grade 3 stage unknown. The specialist wants to do a lumpectomy and remove lymph nodes to be tested then chemo and radiotherapy. To be honest reading the treatment problems with this type I’m wanting a double mastectomy so I know it can’t come back.

Has anybody taken this option?

I’m just a bit confused by it all lol .

I’m 42 and underwent total hysterectomy at 32 so have been on hrt for the last 10 years…could this have contributed?

Thanks in advance

Hi Kim, I have had BC 4 times now. I’m also TN and BRCA1. First time I had lumpectomy, chemo and radio, second time the same and then a recurrence in 2013, so I had a double mastectomy and chemo. Just a quick response as I saw your message x

Hi Kim, I also had a total hysterectomy at 32, then HRT for 15 years. Who knows? But triple neg doesn’t respond to hormones and my Onc said it wasn’t related. My tumour was small, 6mm so I’m just having 20 rads which I started last week. They offered chemo but the long term health risks for me, weren’t good stats. You can use the NHS Predict test if you’re interested. Good luck, ask all your questions, someone on here will be able to help, they’re brilliant.

Thanks hun mine is 20mm …good to hear from people going through the same…

I have to wait 4 weeks for surgery which is driving me wild xx

Thanks everybody much love xxx

I am having a lumpectomy on April 14th then chemo then rads

Am also getting referred to genetics for the brac test

Good luck to everybody xxxx

Hi,

I was diagnosed with TNBC in Feb and still struggling to come to terms with it. I had a WLE to remove a 30mm tumour together with 26 nodes (5 affected). I start chemo on 9th May which I’m absolutely dreading. My onc has offered me BRCA testing and if possible take part in a clinical trial. My head is spinning with everything but reading this thread, it’s comforting to know I’m not alone.

Geraldine

Good luck Geraldine my lovely you will get trough this xxx

Got my results from surgery yesterday and nodes are clear my lump was 20mm. I have developed a haematoma which they drained for me yesterday but it’s still so sore and swollen after nearly 3 weeks!!

I have chemo induction on Friday which is confusing me as surely if it’s not spread and they got it all I’m cancer free?

My surgeon said he will never be able to say I’m cancer free which I don’t understand either?? Confused.com lol
