Just diagnosed and wanting to talk to people who understand

Haven’t tried Phish Food,I will try that tomorrow !!!

It’s bog standard how they deal with sickness whether you have the flu or cancer,it’s based on the premise that most people are skivers and if you harass them enough they will come back to work sooner!!!Its pretty rigid so not much flexibility for managers to be fair ,but its feel pretty crap when you are going through this to feel like you have to justify your reasons for being off sick.

It’s outrageous Jill…idiots!

I can’t believe they would do that it’s really insensitive. Xxxxx

I’ve told them I’m not attending I’m too busy being radiated…

Nikki works the same place I do. They’ve told her take what time she needs and her job is safe. I’ve been there years so I can take whatever time I need as well.
Our place doesn’t seem so bad after all x.

Good greif, they need to sort themselves out Jill, as if things aren’t bad enouth, do they think your boob is burning because your sunbathing or something?!

It’s crazy they don’t have better systems, taking into account the seriousness of the illness, all this off the peg, generitic ‘one size fits all’ letter stuff is very insensitive, it really is!

You seem to have the right attitude about it Jill, but it must upset you sometimes.

Amanda x

Have you ladies got a company policy? I’m sure chronic illnesses are treated differently or at least should be x

Yep cancer treatment would almost certainly be covered by the DDA. I cant imagine a large company would want the publicity.

Ash ,DONT go back if your head is all over the place ,you need more time, once you are back they will quickly forget you are not right.Blondie is right they cannot sack you for having bloody cancer it is part of legislation, one of moderators posted a link last time I talked about this,Some employers’ sickness policy is very punitive ,like you say like being disciplined for being ill.I been on the receiving end before and I know how they operate, this time I’m not playing ball,I to old them to have meeting without me.I will be lying on radiotherapy machine at exactly the same time so busy…

DONT, DONT GO BACK FEELING LIKE THAT!!!

Fingers crossed for Euromilions/ Lotto win then!!!Push for the least hours you can work for at least a month.

Hi ash have you checked their policies about the amount of episodes of sickness policy. If you go back and then have to go off they might count it as an additional episode. I would check that xxxxxxx

Yes ,my employers are the same I am better staying off for longer than going back and going off again .Ash ,you sound pretty ground down by all this, look after yourself ,have a nap in the loo whenever you can!!!

Hi ash I totally agree with you. I was made redundant in feb. The job was so stressful and I know they would have been so unsupportive. As they were when my dad’s illness got worse. I had 9 Job interviews lined up just before I got diagnosed and this whole experience has made me think I want a stress free no responsibility job when I go back to work xxxx

I know what you mean I’m the same but my son has taken a gap year so hopefully I will be back at work by the time he starts next year. Good luck with what ever you decide I wish these employers could not get away with this sort of treatment. But I think it’s becoming more like this if you work for any big organisation xxxxx

Life changes in such a short period of time. 3 months ago we were celebrating our 2nd anniversary in Florida visiting Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Now we’re at home watching Harry Potter on tv with a drain hanging out of her and I’m praying for her to get through this. Cheery aye!!! x

Good luck tomorrow Francine, don’t forget your slippers…

Pleased for you Jo. Before this all I was thinking about was where we’re going next june for my 40th! x

Jo ,I did reply to your message just in case you think I am ignoring you again !!!
