Just diagnosed and wanting to talk to people who understand

One pesky Aussie node !!!

Yep but they are all shipped down under now  xx

How’s the a Radio going Jill ? Xx

It’s monotonous but each time you go is one less.It also makes you feel very tired.I finish Friday which in itself is a scary thought!!!

Wow Jill that has flown by. Is it just tamoxifen after radio? Wish I was closer to the end it seems never ending. Spongebob yes it would be lovely to meet up. I will find out on Wednesday what is happening and we can arrange a meet up from there xxx I hope you ladies will stay in touch when active treatments are over I don’t think I could have got this far without you xxx

Yes Barry. I had 13 nodes ( everyone has a different number) and only 1 was positive so I am 1/13 which is great news. I am however Her2+ and my biggest C ( had 3 areas I total) was 2.6cm and stage 3 so I move on to chemo now. Xx

That’s good ( if you know what I mean) we can help each other. I think the only difference is I ended up with mx because of the 3 tumours. I will be having a rebuild but that is 18 months away. Just want to get treatment over and done with. Looks like we can support each other  x

So does the size of the tumour determine how many nodes they examine or remov? I’m not sure they took any of mine besides a sample of closest one? X

A back log…How sad eh. . Bloody rife isn’t it. X

Hi no the size and grade of tumour determine wether you have chemo or not. I had a biopsy at the beginning and no cells had spread. I then had a mx and snb. When I was given my results the cancer had spread to the sentile node so they recommended full node removal. It doesn’t really matter how many tumours you have as long as they get them. Plus if there are odd cells they can be zapped with radio - hope that makes sense xxx

Hi Barry, yep that’s what they did to me and as you can see it was only in the first one  so fingers crossed for Nikki. When are her results? I will be thinking if you  x

They remove the sentinel nodes which the ones identified by the radioactive injection or dye that the cancer drains into, this can be just one node or several nodes everyone is different .If it is present in any of the sentinel nodes they usually recommend removing all nodes.

I will do xx

I have. My mum wants me to try it, I am not sure. I have long hair so will get it cut short. I have read positive and negative things about the cold cap but to be honest it will grow back when treatment finishes plus lots of wigs and hats out there to experiment with. I think I am quite close to your age ( I turned 40 in March). It all depends what Nikki wants to do xxx

It would be a great birthday present. Mine was a present ( not!!) never mind hopefully by this time next year active treatment will be over for both of us, then I can celebrate and you can too :)X

Hi Sarah - I didn’t think you were ignoring me. How are you? That’s what happened to me the week before my holiday it took me ages to access they system. Xx

They would not tell me much. Just said my onc would tell me what they were going to do. She told me about the wig service and that I would need lots of blood tests so we talked about a pic line. Have u got one? What type of chemo are u having? She did not mention scans at all xxx

Thank you Sarah that will be fab. Thank you xxx
