Just diagnosed and wanting to talk to people who understand

Dear ladies reading this has made me laugh so much!! Not laughed this much fir a while  xx

Well I survived the radioactive injection, wire insertion, 4 further mammograms (should have been 2 but boobs have shrunk that much in last month couldnā€™t get a good picture - with me saying ā€˜canā€™t all this radiation give me cancer?,ā€™ Donā€™t think Radiographer had my sense of humour!), blue dye and op. Now peeing blue and look like a smurf! No real pain and just taken two paracetamol so hope it continues this way. Thanks for support in getting me thus far. Hope youā€™re okay Susie. Cx

So proud of you Cess. You talk about it like it was a walk in the park!!! Thats the spirit Mrs Smurf!!! Hugs Dee xxx

Still feel cheated I donā€™t have blue boobā€¦every other colour but!Hope neither of you are too sore Suzie and C .I am really feeling it under my arm where they took nodes far more than my boob hope thatā€™s normal and nothing sinister lurking under the dressing.

Hi Jull, yes Kim is right, itā€™s quite usual for the underarm incision to be more paunful than the boob one, mine was too. It depends on where your nodes are situated, everyone is different, so removing the sentinels can be more or less easy for the surgeon. Also there is less room underarm for any bruising/swelling to expand, i had a sore shoulder too, which the BCN explained was from having your arm extended during surgery. That lasted a couple of weeks and then went. Make sure you do the exercises regularly, really does help. Take your painkillers too, even if you donā€™t feel too much discomfort sometimes, helps to bring down the inflammation. Sorry if I sound like a teacher (!) but after two WLEs, iā€™ve become a bit of an old hand! Soon have to become a mx expert I think. PS the sprouts were definitely a bad idea!!

Thank you Sandra, nurse rang today and I had a chat with her about it.See how I get on,she said you have a lot more nerve endings in your armpit than boob so will more painful anyway.Good luck with your results.

Hi Ladies
I had WLE on 3 June and my arm is just starting to feel better. The scar under my arm was really sore but I was also told itā€™s a very sensitive area and itā€™s all to do with the healing process. Also my upper arm and shoulder ached so much that I even thought it might be lymphodema (I only had 2 sentinel nodes removed) and even had my OH measuring the tops of my arms - what am I like! Anyway hope youā€™re feeling better soon and good luck with results day. Carole xx

Very easy to get paranoid isnā€™t it , thanks Carole . hopefully my sweaty arm pit will feel better soon .

Hmm Kim, so thatā€™s what you and your OH get up to in the shower! Too much information, as my daughter would say, lol. Sweaty armpit, horrible but at least Iā€™m not very hairy there any more, due to advancing age!

Does anyone else feel really disconnected from their friends who are not going though this? I am finding that I just havenā€™t the energy to care about other peoples non life threatening problems at the moment and therefore I am not feeling like I want to interact with other people very much at all which is not like me .

Hi Jill,
Yes we do understand. All of us girls on the surgery and living alone thread have a mantra we silently repeat if anyone rabbles on about pathetic problems. In the words of the late great Clarke Gabel ā€™ Quite frankly my dear, I couldnā€™t give a damm !ā€™ Repeat this silently to yourself when the need arises! Xxxxx

So kniw what u mean Kim. Your hypocondriac work colleague is shockingly lacking in basic common manners and decency. Unfortunately im sure we have all encountered this at some point. But now you have a strategy for dealing with it. Remember the mantra girls! Xxxx

Quite frankly my dear I donā€™t give ***** !Got itā€¦

Hello ladies think I will use the mantra lots. I saw my consultant today and my second lump is a stage 2. How greedy I am stage 2 and 3!! It looks like best outlook is a full mastectomy. Date set 21st July. At least I know now. Xxx

21st July seems a long way off but at least you have a better idea about what happens next now ā€¦ Showing off- having 2 different lumpsā€¦

Mad Ange the waiting will soon go at least u know now you can have August to yourself to give yourself time before further treatment. You will get there i thought i would never see the day when treatment finished. I finish on Monday a happier woman who takes no bulls**t from anyone and is determined to live my life to the full  hugs all round xxx

Yes it seems like forever but itā€™s good because I have a date to work to. It could be earlier if there is a cancellation. Yep I am really greedy  xx

Thanks Dee. We did not discuss what we are going to do next consultant said wait until after surgery for next stageā€¦there is now a light at the end of the tunnel. Couldnā€™t do it without the support of you ladies xxxx

Mad Ange. All of us here will be with you every step of the way. I agree couldnā€™t do it without you girls on here.??

Good luck tomorrow Jill. My fingers are crossed for you. Xxx
