Hi everybody- I am joining the club I never knew existed, the one nobody wants to join… but now I am so happy it exist and glat to e-meet you lovely people
I was just diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday but I still don’t know the type or stage as the biopsy was only done yesterday and result of biopsy is not known yet.
The doctor who was doing the ultrasound test told me that mammography shows white spots all across your breast which are combined to make a lump which leaves no doubt the cells are malignant cells- the doctor could not see any of those on my lymph nodes but then I have read here that ultrasound can not be conclusive. How likely is it that the nodes then are found also positive? do you have some experience of that?
I need to wait until next week to know more about the type of cancer and the stage and am so so stressed and worried I can hardly action - is this normal to know immediately after mammography that things are bad and I need a surgery in a few weeks or does this only happen if things are really really bad ?
I have a seven years old and am worried sick , not sure how I can wait until I get more info…
Hi Nazly…I hope you are not waiting long for your results … i can imagine what a scary time this is for you…I have had BC 3 times…each time after a mammogram and US scan I have been told to expect a camcer diagnosis based on these alone…I have then had this confirmed with the biopsy results a week to 10 days later…my consultant said he would never say this unless he was very very certain…I was told first 2 times that I had white calcification show up which were likely to be DCIS ( this was correct) and 3rd time I was told I had an area that presented as a IDC ( this was correct too) I never had any lymph node involvement show up on scans however after my 3rd diagnosis and surgery I had x 1 positive node… there’s absolutely no reason to think that your lymph nodes are involved unless you are told later on that they are…for me personally I felt that the pre diagnosis prepared me for what was to come…and he only told me because I asked…im not sure how it works at other cancer hospitals…2 years down the line from my last diagnosis, I’m doing ok and I wish you well too.
I’ve just found this forum and yours was the 1st message I’ve read - I was also diagnosed on Monday of this week and I too have a 7 year old son.
I’ve had an MRI scan today to find out more, treatment plan etc. I cannot help worrying that it will show up elsewhere. I’m hoping I will see the surgeon next week for further results.
Sorry I just had to reply as it sounds like we are both at this horrible waiting stage, not knowing what is going to happen next and just wanting to be told that it can be treated and it will all be fine.
